I'd to hear what these could do . I have a large open space in my basement and these could be the perfect speaker for my needs.

To Danbert and Derwin XLS,

You guys should pair your XLS-215 speakers with a Behringer EP4000 along with rca cables to a receiver with preouts. Anyone trying to run these speakers with a receiver will never do them justice. They are good speakers overall.

However their midrange is not very defined and their highs become shrill at high volumes when underpowered.

would 200 watts be plenty for these speakers ? or are those woofers even more demanding ?

200 watts is the bare minimum. But they sound their best with 4-500 watts @ 8ohms per channel.

FYI, I recently read that Bill Bush, who designed these speakers (and was also involved in the design of landmark speakers such as the NHT 3.3) passed away. RIP.

I have a pair of 215's and I love them. They definitely do the job for music and HT but like mentioned you need to give them the power they want. I power them with a QSC-GX-5 and it works very well with them. Here is a pic of mine.

So cool I run my XLS15s with QSC GX5 also plugged to my AVR preouts.. What do you dial the QSC to ? I usually keep it around 12 o'clock...

The same for me, I run the gain at 12oclock and have plenty of headroom.

Anyone have a pair of these near Raleigh, NC? I'm thinking these might be my next speakers, but, I'd love to hear them first!
