I am looking to purchase 3 pairs of Outdoor Speakers to go under my house eaves and on a pergola. I recently built a deck and patio that are linked together that butt up to the house. Each space is about 20 x 20ft.

I am not looking for sound purety as I know these are outdoor speakers, however I would like something that is good to listen to and does not strain to be heard.

From my initial research and evaluation I have narrowed it down to three different pairs that are of similar price. I would be interested in anyone who has experience or an opinion about any of these three different sets of outdoor speakers.

They are:

B&W WM6
Niles OS7.5
Definitive Technology AW6500

Any thoughts or opinions about any of these would be greatly appreciated to help me decide between one of these brands.

To help eliminate any aspects that may come into question, price, amplification, wiring etc are not of consideration at this point. Only the speaker themselves are what is important to consider for me at this point.

Thanks in advance.

Anthony

If I may, let me add one more option to the mix. Axiom Audio also makes outdoor speakers.

Thanks Catbrat for the idea. Yes, I did evaluate these in my research along with the Paradigm Stylus 470. I had to get the list down from the 10 or more I began with. These two were the last ones to be eliminated from my list. The main reason I decided against these last two was because I could not find any reviews on them even though people did mention them in intermittent postings. The final three I listed all seemed to be favoured equally by various people.

kiwegian,

Which speaker set did you go with? I'm looking at the B&W vs. the Definitive based mostly on talking to a couple people at BB.

After using many different outdoor speakers for installations here in Nova Scotia including B&W I can tell you that "Technomad" is now our favorite go to model. It a professional design using more robust drivers than usual & truly is indestructible. Used by Carnival Cruise Ships,Queen Mary etc. Excellent midrange & tight bass. They seem to go way lower than the specs indicate. I have only heard their smallest "Vernal 15."

This is the link I meant. BTW in my opinion either the B&W or Deftech would be good choices but none use technology like these:

Hey Jeffotte,

Sorry I did not respond sooner. Unfortunately I did not end up getting any of them because a friend of mine offered me his ones for free. I was leaning towards the B & W's though before my friend stepped in with an offer I could not refuse. While I was leaning towards the B & W's, I was really torn as both are great speakers and I knew both would be a good fit. Hope that helps.

Thanks Genelec Man, I will definitely take a look at these for future reference. I have not heard of them before.
