I'm building a media room - i am putting in drop ceiling in w/ acoustical tiles from ceilume. Room is 12x19x8 ... 7.1 system. all walls have been insulated. i have about ~$600 - ~700 to spend on the speakers (not including Sub).

I've noticed some threads like the HTDs..any other suggestions?

Thanks for the recommendation for Aperion and Emotiva. I've studied HTD and I am prepared to place an order....

I've listened to Speakercraft, Klipsch, Polk, and I have researched Sonnance and alike too.

HTD's, on 'paper' seem to be a lot speaker for the money. We'll find out!

Anyone with experience with HTD or Emotiva or Aperion, please chime in.

Thanks.

I love my monoprice speakers. They are just about perfect (I am no audiophile though).

I am buying in-wall speakers soon as well and have been researching extensively. One thing the pros seem to agree on is buying an enclosed in-wall. This limits your choices and also results in spending more money. Few if any of the cheaper in-wall solutions have engineered enclosures.

You can mitigate some of the enclosure issue by using a product similar to Dynamat's en-wall enclosures. I just recently added in-walls and used the Dynabox for the in-ceiling center since the attic space was wide open.
