Hi. Wanna set up a sound system for my new TV which is a 65" panasonic. The tv is mainly used for sports and movies. It is in an apartment which the tv part is 3.1m wide and around 5m wide where the couches will be. I have no idea on what is good in sound systems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Looking to spend up to 15k,

Just want to verify that you put the right number in, because 15k is 15,000.... and for $15,000 you are going to have one hell of a nice setup.

Hmm......what is your movie music ratio?

How loud can you play it in your apt? Soundproof?

With your budget, take a look at Mark Seaton's stuff.

Also look at Jim Salk's stuff.

Depends on your goals.

This is good and will save you $5,000. Good for movies
and music. I would reccomend a sound proof place.

Rather than read about everybody's personal wish list here (which is what these threads always turn into) you might do better to find someone locally to help you put this together who can look at your place and talk with you in person about what might work best for you.

Wow. 15k is a nice budget, especially for an apartment! Don't want to sound redundant, but it's an important question, especially for home theater! How is the soundproofing of that place?

And yes, getting someone to take a look at your place would be helpful.

That being said, people's suggestions can be as well, and is not always their "favorite choice". Are you looking for speakers that look nice as well, and does your budget include electronics, wires, stands, mounts, etc?

Budget was for all of the stuff yes, wires, amp etc. Am not sure on the sound proofing of the apartment. Living in Victoria, in southbank. What is the best way to find someone to come out and inspect the apartment to set up a suitable system. Must be people who do it for a living right

Many (most?) good stores that sell the equipment also do home installations etc. The better ones should also be able to advise with acoustics.

$15000 will definitely get you an awesome system when spent wisely

You do realize that this is a US based forum. When you mention Victoria & Melbourne, most other users have no idea that you are referring to Australia. So, you should always disclose your location if you are seeking equipment advice overseas.
