I demo'd several speakers and for the price, Procella was my choice. I personally like horns for movies. I am in the middle of building our room now, so don't have the P5s. The room I heard had P8s and P6. Procella has built several demo rooms in the past few years. I've noticed they have been using P5s for their side, rear and ceiling speakers. My designer, Nyal Mellor builds many Procella rooms and highly recommends the P5. I was originally going to go P6, but he said P5 performs very closely and is substantially less.

I actually heard the Monitor Audio Silvers, Golds and the in-walls in one room and went right into the next room to listen to Procella. To me, there was no comparison. The Procellas blew the Monitor Audio speakers away for cinema. Again, this was a direct comparison to the Procella P8s though, not the P5. I demo'd several other brands as well, but did not get the chance to listen to B&W. I did get to demo JBL Synthesis and it was incredible. However, those were the M2s. The JBL guys specced out the 708i and 705i for my budget and said it would have great performance. They did however admit, the Procella P8s and P6s had more output.

If you have the chance, go demo and listen for yourself. If you can't, I personally don't think you can go wrong going Procella. I know there are many here who would agree.

Since I have 2 of P6V and the rest are P5, I would be interested to here what you think the differences are between your P6 and P5V. I was tempted to go P6V for the rear-side row and rears, but its a lot more money for those so we went with the P5s...well because I don't live in Europe and I'm guessing it will be a while until we see the P5V over here. The P5V and P5iW would have solved so problems for me, but we've worked it out now.

So you got lucky on getting yours so early! Awesome! If the big shipment is coming out in October, that probably means the US won't see them until next year.

It sounds like you have some great connections, use them wisely! I look forward to hearing what you think of the performance and comparison. Of course also what the big guys from Procella say.

Looks great! How does it sound?

I have looked around a lot for a good mounting system for my P5s for the ceiling and for the walls. I would be VERY interested if you would show some pictures and give an explanation of how you mounted yours.

Also, have you looked into how to angle the speakers with brackets?

Very impressive for a 5.1.2 single seat theater!

As you kan see in post #398 there is a 100x100mm VESA on the back of P5/p5v . . so any VESA 100x100 bracket will work

I didnt need to angle the speaker so i used the most slim bracket i could find

But if you want to angle them Multibracket has alot of options

http://www.multibrackets.com/6061.shtml
http://www.multibrackets.com/6078.shtml

"How does it sound?"

Breaking them in and listens to Music now . . . .and well, they sound like an smaller P6 . . the P6 will go louder and will have a bigger dynamic range . . . .but the P5V sounds good, damn good

Thanks for the info and pics. I see the difference now. The P5V has pre-drilled mounting holes for the VESA brackets. Unfortunately, my P5s do not. I had to figure out something else, but I finally did. I'll post more on my thread later.

I'm glad to hear they sound good. I am hopeful to hear my P5s for the first time tomorrow! I have been listening to the P8 for two weeks now though.

You can use the screws on the back to hold a bracket..i dont know the measurement but shouldent be that hard to make a bracket template

I must have the "old" P5 model, because my P5s don't have any screw holes on the back of them. I would literally have to drill holes, then put screws into the back to make them work with that bracket. I didn't want to do that.

I do love seeing that they made the change to have the predrilled holes on your new speakers though. It makes the installation so much more simple!

If you look at the Pictures above...they are using the screws that actually hold the back of the speaker. . the screws are machine thread, so just screw them out..Place the bracket and screw them in again...the screws are long enough for that to work perfectly

So look Close at the picctures and you will see that they are using the original screws . .I´m doing that for my rear speakers

So look Close at the picctures and you will see that they are using the original screws . .I´m doing that for my rear speakers
Jolt, what you are describing is correct, for 2015 produced P5. The current P5 (shipping as of August 2016) have VESA connectors (100x 100mm) on the back, just like the P5V:

Unfortunately, I received mine in June 2016 so mine did not have those VESA connectors. I'm glad they were added for future products though. It is welcomed!

Procella owners

I will have my room built in the next couple of weeks, wohoo. I am finalizing my equipment choices. I am going with P6 from my front LCR. My room is considered small/medium sense its only 13 x 17 x 10 W.D.H. My question is what is the right amount of amp power I should be using to get the best out of these speakers, based on my room size and two rows of seating? Yes of course more is better, but at some point you just cant use all of it. I do enjoy movies at reference level, and do want it clean.

So my plan is you purchase the newly announced Denon AVR-X4300H which has 125watts per channel, but I will be doing a 7.1.4 Atmos system and will need to buy a separate 2 channel amp. So my thought was, what if I buy a 3 channel amp for the Procellas and let the receiver power the rest of the room?

I have seen several 3 channel amps for sale on eBay and such. 200 watts per channel. Adcom, Parasound etc... would that be enough power? Would I even hear a difference between one of those amps and the ones built into the receiver? A used 3 channel amp runs from $450-$600, is this a wise investment? Or just buy a cheep 2 channel amp for the Atmos and let the receiver power the Procellas?

I remember some time back, people here on AVS recommending Pro Amp like QSC and such?

I'm open to suggestions.

Thank you all in advance for your time.

Hi Jerry,

I also just built a theater using Procella speakers. My equipment list and link to my thread are both below this message. There is a LOT of info in the thread from many people regarding amplifiers and the correct wattage. I encourage you to search the thread, there is a wealth of information and user commentary.

There were many different amplifiers considered, including Crown, Parasound, ATI, Sunfire, D-Sonic to name just a few. Those were my top 5 choices. I ended up going with Crown. I have attached a spreadsheet I created showing some of the prices, total watts, costs per watt, cost per channel, warranties, etc.

Nyal Mellor designed my home theater and is highly regarded in the AVS community. He said an AVR will run my system fine and that's all I needed (with the extra 2 channel amp). For me, the maximum my P8s needed was 200w and the maximum for my P5s was 125w. I ended up going far above that and am using 600w per P8 and 300w per P6V/P5. I know it would have been good with the AVR, but I wanted more head room and performance. It's not calibrated yet and WOW it rocks! Literally!!

I hope that gives you good head start toward making a decision.
