Trying to put together a decent budget ht.
Room is 13x17. 8.5' ceiling.

Saw a denon 591 for $250.

I already have a pair of 6.5" home depot speakers in the ceiling over the couch for rear surrounds.

From reviews, I'm liking the velodyne vx-11 for $180 or so.

My question is, how well would the bic dv62i 6.5" bookshelves match
With the bic fh6 dual 6.5" center? They look like 2 separate lines, but
They're all decent 6.5's so it should be ok, right?

Not a ideal match at all. If you want the FH6 center with horn tweeter then get the matching bookshelf speakers with horn tweeters. Or even better get two more FH6 speakers. They are LCR's anyway so can be used as left, center and right speakers. Then you know you'll have a perfect match across the front stage.
http://www.amazon.com/BIC-FH6-LCR-6-.../ref=pd_cp_e_0

If you want the DV62Si bookshelf speakers then get the DV62CLRS center to match.
http://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-DV..._bxgy_e_text_b

It is important to timbre match your front 3 speakers, so either go with 3 horn speakers or 3 non horn speakers. Don't mix and match.

By the way the DV62si is 6" woofer, not 6.5". It uses the same drivers as the CLRS.

And for $180 you should get the Bic F12 subwoofer instead of the Velodyne VX-11.

Oh ok thanks...
That's why I was asking. I had a feeling that they may be operating totally differently.as.far.as efficiency. I'm leaning towards the dv62 set of bookshelves and center. I realized I totally don't have the space for Fh6's for left/right. I will also stick with the vx-11 too. Im a big fan of 10's over 8's or 12's.
Would there be any other options I should.be looking at?
That's about $400 for a center left right and sub. What else should I.be looking at?

+1 on the F-12. Step down pick would be the Dayton SUB-120 (~$150), step up pick would be the Lava Subs LSP10 (~$250). I'm not sure if you are particular on the matter, but both are ported and front firing, same as the Velodyne.

I know the woofer is a little smaller, but at the budget price you're talking, the only other speaker I'd be looking at is the Energy CB-5. You can get a pair of them for $100.

$400 is a small budget for 3 front speakers and a subwoofer.

Maybe the Pioneer BS41 bookshelf and C21 center?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Pioneer+...943&st=pioneer center channel&cp=1&lp=1

Or Boston Acoustic CS26 and CS225. That'll run you about $240.

Thanks for the input!

Actually I really love the look of that Fh6.
I need to try harder to fit them into my left and right bookshelves.

But product specs are saying dimensions are
25.2 x 11.5 x 9 inches

But also 22x8x6 ?

The 2nd set of numbers might actually work.
I'm guessing one set of numbers is the shipping box size?

Ok I'm leaning more towards a more decent sub over the speakers.

I'll go for a bic f12... But if I go cheaper on speakers and or receiver,
I'll aim for a 10" HSU.

So ill stay 5.1 with my generic 6.5's in the ceiling.
Looking at the denon...1612? ....I dunno, the 591 replacement.

Then for lcr, either 2 pairs of Dayton b652's

Or Polk cs1 center and matching bookshelf monitor 30s or 40s

Or bic dv62si bookshelf with matching center,

Or 3 Fh6's. This last one means I'm going even cheaper on the sub or...
Unless its highly recommended over other ideas?

Ok, so I'm looking at these new egg deals again...

Would it be so bad to run a cs2 and a pair of monitor 40's?

That, or the dv62 center plus pair of bookseller?

I'm stuck! The Polk series 2' s are so pretty!

Already decided to get an f12.

Recently got an onkyo ht-rc360, if that makes a difference.

You shouldn't have any problem with the Polks. I have had mine for about a year and a half and I think they sound great. I am in the process of upgrading, but that is mainly because my friend is buying my old setup giving me money towards the upgrade.

+1 on the Polk M30's or 40's with the CS2. If you have room for the floor standing models the M60 would work well too.

I picked up some M70's, CS2 and M30's for $550 from Newegg a few months ago and I love them. I think you'd be happy with them as well. The Series II is a great bang for the buck, IMO.

Polk RTi6 or RTi A3 the speaker line higher than Monitor's or TSi

The Polk Monitor 40's with dual 5.25" drivers will perform just as will as a single 6.5" driver speaker

Thanks. I think I will pull the trigger on those Polks tonight!
I really didn't want to get too caught up in the thought of having to have exact
Matching speakers up front. Especially in a small room with a corner loaded sub, its not likely to make a give difference.
