Hi,
I'm trying to replace my Klipsch B-3 (C20 center) with the Jamo S606 currently on sale at Vanns. However, unable to audition the S606, I'm not sure if I'm moving in the right direction. I did audition the C607 today and I like it very much.
I started out with the Energy Take Classic. Sound fine, but it lacks mid-range and low, so I swapped out with the B-3/C20. For movies, this setup is nice as the mid-range is better. However, for music, it is too bright and not tight at all. I do have a 12" BIC SW to help with the lower end, but still does not sound smooth. Would the Jamo S606 sounds better than what I have? My room is 16x20 with 1/2 wall to the left (with curtain), so it's not best for audio.

Thanks for all the advise folks. The sale will end soon and I don't want to miss out a good bargain :-)

Pull the trigger, you won't be disappointed. It's one of the most liked budget 5.0 system here in this forum.

Thanks for the advise. Very tempting indeed. I heard all the good comments about it. Just wondering how much "better" would it be compare to the B-3.

Actually, I just played some of the Eric Clapton files and I found that if I stand about 6-ft away from the B3 speakers (which is 12ft apart), it sounds much better. Still very bright, but fuller. My theater chairs are 10ft away. Sitting there, I just cannot get the immerse feel of the sound. Just something very far away. Crank up the volume would amplify the noise as well and I don't like that. BTW, my receiver is the old but good HK AVR-320.

Would the S606 solve my problem?

Jamo's will have a fuller sound and they will be no where as bright as the Klipsch

Might want to angle the Klipch inward towards the center of your theater chairs that might help. Make sure the rear port on those speakers can breathe

Adding a subwoofer would help fill out your sound stage too

I own both Jamo (not this package) and Klipsch and love them both. But this is just all our opinions, right?

Anyways, that package looks great and quite sure you will like it.

By the way, what are you using to power these speakers? Klipsch/Energy?

I have the HK AVR-320. It is 10 year old, but is quite good.

I have a HK 325, it definitely has more power than you would think. I've used it with my Jamo e680 towers. Sounds very good.

Your HK 320 should do very well with the S606 package.

Bit the bullet. Order the S606 from Vanns. Will see how it sound in my room. Will have to modify the theater stage to fit it in, major work, but hopefully it's worth it.

i did also.....i am combining that with my new Onkyo 609 ($375). So for under $800 i am hoping i will have a good system for the money.

Updated: Got my speakers 2 weeks ago. Drove it with a Parasound amp. It really sings well. Have not done much movies, but 2-channel music is much, much, much better than my Klipsch setup. Earlier, if I sit near the front, it sound OK. But as I moved back further, the sound fell off quickly. With this set, every where I sit, it sounds similar. high/mid/low all improved. Couple this with my BIC sub, I can finally have a setup that would allow me to enjoy music and still can shake my chair with movies. Heck, I can even do Karaoke with it :-)

This is floor-standing, so it's not fair to compare against a bookshelf, but cost/quality is much better.

What stands will fit the surrounds that come with the Jamo S606? I just wasted $30 on stands that were advertised as fitting "most" speakers, but apparently these surrounds don't fall into that category.

any stand with a flat top plate should work with those speakers. I bought a pair of those S602 surrounds recent and they easily fit on my 36" wood technology stand.

these Sanus 31" stands will easily accomodate those surrounds. they have a 5" x 5" top plate.
