Dear Friends:
I am a newbie to this forum with limited/no knowledge on surround sound speaker systems and AV receivers.

I did some research and short listed my options but I am not sure which one may be a best suitable for a open floor plan family room size 166' X 299'. So I would like to hear your recommendations/suggestions please. Recommendations doesn't have to be from my list.

AV Receivers:
ONKYO NR609
YAMAHA RX-A700
DENON AVR-1912
PIONEER VSX-1021-K

SPEAKERS:
POLK Blackstone
BOSE Acoustimass 6 series III
EPISODE ES-500.

Thank you.

It would be good to know the budget for the speakers. You
need bigger speakers for that room.

Hi Jim!
I am not sure if it matters or not but I am planning to install rear speakers in ceiling somewhere in the middle of the room. The reason is we use 1/3 of the room for breakfast area. Coming to the price I am not sure how much I should spend but I am thinking to go for speakers in three more rooms also with zoning option and current budget is around 5K including everything. I can stretch my self little bit if I am compromising on quality.

Hope that this information is useful to recommend me something.

Thanks

Even though you have a seperate area for breakfast - I would look
at Focal, except for their sub
http://www.spearitsound.com/focal/focal_700_series.htm

I would look at Snell, for in-ceiling speakers
http://www.accessories4less.com/make...er-Each/1.html

For the Subwoofers:
Look over at HSU
http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-2-mk3.html
Look over at Epik
http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/legend.html

I would make sure that you get a receiver whose rated specs,
are based from 20 hz to 20 khz, and not 1000 khz, to begin
with. If you use 1000 khz specs - then make sure that they are
rated high. The more expensive ones, seem to do better. You
should try to get a receiver with pre-outs, for amps in the future.

For different room zones - check into this
http://www.htd.com/Products/multi-channel-amplifiers

Focal also, has some smaller speakers

Jim-
Couple more questions, what do you recommend for outdoor covered patio? And can I use the same in-ceiling speakers in different rooms(zone two)?

Thank you

You can use the same in-ceiling around the house.

Hi Jim-
could you please also recommend me a Volume Control with Impedance Matching unit for my zoned speakers? And also I was thinking about Universal MX880 remote control with MRF-350 RF Base Station. What do you say?

Thanks

As far as universal remote control - your choice!
