Was offered all this for what I think is a good price:

Owner says theyve been in storage for years and work great. Some light scratches on the tops but thats it. Said he cant find model #s but the bigger speakers are Klipsch Chorus II's. (CHR II FIN BLK 19) What else is here?

Hes sending me more pics later today with the covers off. Used value if they all work? Or max I should pay?

Thanks!

BTW I just picked up those Klipsch Quintet 5.0s that were on sale for $229 so I may mix and match with the above. Already have a nice Sony receiver and Aiwa sub

The Chorus II are a solid base to an HT. Dunno about the smaller ones but as surrounds I suppose they could be fine. I wonder what the sub is?

Although the Klipsch Chorus II's have some age on them, fully functional and up to specs units are comparable to Cornwalls sound wise .. a fully functional pair would be a steal at $500 ..

Clever haha

Yeah, that is definitely a steal. Snag 'em

For those looking into getting Energy speakers, or upgrading their current Energy setup, here are some reviews I've written that may help:http://www.tempestaudio.blogspot.com  (haven't updated in a while, but include Energy Take Classic 5.1, RC-10, CF-70, and CC-10)

He just sent me the mother-load of pics. Let me know if you guys see any problems. He said they all work but he didn't have a cord for the sub. Looks like the power cord is hardwired so Im assuming he meant audio cables? This looks like one hell of a speaker system. Any info would be appreciated as I am not even a novice with audio systems

One thing I cant figure out is the model # and smaller speakers. Sub is an SW-12 II?

If those chorus II are in good condition they are worth it for that price alone. Definitely a buy. Only thing i would consider is a different center channel. Might want to rethink your sony receiver too

I agree.

This is suggesting to me that you've never heard these speakers or perhaps the brand??

I don't know about these specific speakers but on their larger speakers, they use cloth surrounds so on those speakers you don't have to worry about foam rot. I don't know if these use cloth or not but I've never heard anyone complain about rot.

If it's all working and you get a chance to hear it, I personally think you are going to end up with a smile on your face about the size of the Grand Canyon. You will sit there in pain (from smiling) thinking dayum... I would have paid $1,000 for all of this and STILL bought the seller a beer afterwards.

Hard to go wrong for the $300, even if you don't like them. You've probably blown more than that on your GF/wife at a single event.

Did he send you a picture of the center speaker?

From the first picture, I'm wondering if it's an Academy. Odds are that it's not. If however, it is an Academy then it alone is worth the asking price (if not even more). Post a picture of that without a grill if he sent one to you.

No...forget that... turn your freaking pc off RIGHT NOW and get off your duff with cash in hand and motor over there to pick this stuff up.

Don't pass go & don't pat the GF/wife on the hiney as you leave... just focus & go like a bat out of he!!

Exactly .. if these had been in my neck of the woods, they would have been in the bed of my truck in as long as it took to get to the sellers home .. the OP is lucky they are still available ..

Second in line! Essentially buying the pair of Chourus II for $300, the rest are throw-ins.

From the photos, the Chorus II appear to be in very good shape. The drivers look great. A plus is that a black ash veneer is the easiest finish to touch up if needed.

I have never heard these exact speakers. I have owned a Klipsch 2.1 system and a buddy had a top of line klipsch home theater system and I was blown away by it.

That's what I'm thinking. Right now Im using speakers from an Old Aiwa HiFi stereo system. Probably going to pee myself when he cranks them up.

Any idea what this stuff sold for new?

Looks like the other 2 speakers are KM-2's

Am I reading the specs right, the Chorus speakers are 89lbs each? The sub is 59lbs? Gonna be fun hauling these up the stairs...

One of the pictures above, shows what is probably the center speaker. If this is indeed the same speaker, then it is not a square shape but perhaps more trapazoidal (?). Slanted to say the least.

If it's slanted, then it's in fact, NOT an Academy as those were all square shaped.

They're not terribly common either so the odds weren't there for it to be one. With the shape of it, I'd say it's 110% not.

Bummer for you

I'd pass on the whole pile of crap. If there is no Academy involved, it's not worth it.

Now, where is this idiot located so I can go give him a piece of my mind?

Not sure if 100% accurate, but here are original retail list prices with year of introduction:

Chorus II $1790 (1990)
KM-2 $320 (1992)
SW-12 II $1100 (1994)

Listen even if he is a rapist, for the price he's given you, just take the a$$ pounding with a grain of salt and limp away with a great set of speakers. Dang you got a great deal on those.

Go Cats! You could of taken the pounding yourself I bet. These were in Tucson on Craigslist.

Picked them up last night and wow, I don't really have any words. He had them temporarily setup so I could hear them and I had no idea how big the sound was going to be. He cranked them up way higher than I can have them at my new place and they pump! Last time he used them was in 2007 at his sons graduation party and the cops came by to tell them that a neighbor a street over called them about noise. He originally got the system in 95 or 96 from a military buddy who bought them in Japan and had them shipped directly to him. I wound up picking up the Onkyo AVR as well

Center channel is a KMC

http://www.klipsch.com/km-c

Quote:

The two-way ported km-c center channel loudspeaker was first introduced in 1994 and manufactured by Klipsch until 1997 specifically for U.S. Armed Forces worldwide distribution. The km line was the last line Klipsch made specifically for our U.S. Armed Forces overseas.

FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 75Hz-20kHz(+-)3dB
HIGH FREQUENCY HORN: Exponential Cone
NOMINAL IMPEDANCE: 8 ohms
POWER HANDLING: 75 watts maximum continuous (375 watts peak)
SENSITIVITY: 92dB @ 1watt/1meter
TWEETER: K-89-KV 1" (2.54cm) Polymer dome compression driver
WEIGHT: 13 lbs. (5.9kg)
WOOFER: Two K-1016-SV 5.25" (13.34cm) ICG cone

Not 1 problem, everything works great even the receiver. Didnt come with a remote but my Comcast remote will work. Cant change between Vid 1 and 2 yet though. The speakers make my 51" Samsung Plasma look small:

Thanks again for all the info. Planning on wall mounting the TV and getting rid of the stand for something nicer.

So all in all I picked up

2 - Klipsch Chorus II's
2 - Klipsch KM2's
1 - Klipsch KMC
1 - Klipsch SW12-II
1 - Onkyo TX-SV919THX
1 - JVC crappy receiver

All for $300!

Wonder how I missed this thread.

Score of the month???

Last month, and this month???

How much was the total including the 919?(which by the way, is a thoroughbred)

By the way, I'd take that center out of the cabinet, put it on top...then set the TV on it(if the base of the TV is deeper than the speaker is...get a piece of wood to put behind it).

$300 for all the speakers and the 919. Any chance I can find an original remote? Need to hook up digital audio since I'm just running red/whites from the cable box to the 919.

I was thinking score of the year for sure.

Center channel is too small to put the TV on. I may scoot the TV back some more and put the center in front of it. Eventually want to wall mount the TV so should have plenty of room.

Buy a Harmony remote and you should be golden. I'd have loved to pick those up myself but with three HT systems in my house, any more speakers and the GF says she'll kill me in my sleep. Sweet looking in your place though.

I suggest Ebay. Any remote from the "1994 era" will work.

However, if I remember correctly...

You have to do the set-up from the buttons on the front anyway. I don't think OSD for set-up had been created yet. I could be wrong. I don't remember the TX SV having an OSD.
