I think the kid pushed the dust cap in a 1/4"...If so, other than cosmetic, the sound won't be affected.

OK--now I get it. It's the old dented dust cap routine. It's purely a cosmetic issue. It won't degrade the sound in any way. There are a couple of ways to fix it, although it's hard with very stiff paper caps like the Scan Speak uses. You can try sticking a strip of clear shipping tape over the dent, and then yanking it off quickly. That actually worked for me a couple of times. You have to stick the tape on tight and yank really hard. You can also try getting new twins. Cheers

OK...My sons Affordable Accuracy towers should be delivered in a few days. Till that time comes, I am searching (unsuccessfully) to find actual owners reviews/pictures.

I'm certain these will be sweet but like anyone else, I want to read as much about them as I can find to kill the time and to build the anticipation level even higher.

So, anyone in this thread have any they would like to showoff/review?

I hope to open up the store for BMR orders next week. I've had to revise the crossover slightly to accommodate a newer version of the Scan Speak woofer that just became available. It will provide slightly better bass response, but looks exactly the same. Thanks to the strong dollar, I'll be able to meet my price goal of under $1500 for the version with the prefabricated cabinets.
Nuance and 65 Electra Glide like this.

Dennis, if the final version of the speaker will have "slightly better" bass than the almost 40 hz my Beta version can hit, that speaker will have OUTSTANDING bass!
Anyone who is looking for a speaker that hits low really well, is mostly flat throughout the FR and has an excellent RAAL tweeter, I doubt you will find better for 1500/pr! I have expressed some questions about the BMR as a midrange, simple becuase the mids are more recessed and more "flat" than the EMP speakers I am use to, but I have come to appreciate that the "lack of coloration" in the midrange helps create a terrific sounding speaker. And that RAAL tweeter has amazing clarity and detail!

This is my solution to stop that from happening... apologies for the mess but...

That's a shame, the Philharmonitors are great - I hope Dennis Murphy can put these back out again sometime.

I will say honestly say though, I hope he brings the cabinet development back to the U.S. and increases the price. While the sound quality is amazing for $850, my cabinet quality was honestly pretty bad. I understand the limitations of the out-sourcing setup, so I didn't bother returning my Philharmonitors (as I have no idea what the QC situation is).

I can deal with the grills being shipped partially broken, as well as various random small scratches and anomalies (examples: AlexisSound logo came partially peeled off, Woofer seated too far on one speaker). But using black markers to cover up blemishes on new speakers that cost as much as these is pretty lame and always catches my eye.

Speakers that sound as good as these really deserve nicer cabinets, even at an increased price.

Asian quality control is always a problem. Most of the cabinets were fine, but a few slipped through. They were shipped direct from the factory, unless yours was an exception for some reason, so I couldn't monitor it personally. In any event, I can't get those anymore. Recently, I've been filling orders with cabinets made by Jim Salk and a new local cabinet maker who is still getting up to speed, particularly on black satin finish. I have indeed had to increase the price--to $1,000/pr delivered for the Jim Salk version. I'll try and get pics and info up on my site shortly. I have some cheaper B-stock (not Jim's), so PM or e-mail me if that appeals to you.

Wow. That's too bad Dude. I'd be pretty disappointed myself. But if they sound as good as mine, it's hard to complain too much. BTW, what angle is that photo? It kinda doesn't even look like my Philharmonitors. Just curious. -Dyedblue

No cracks about my speaker placement. It's the worst setup, I know. They're actually on top of my son's Yamaha upright piano and the tweeters are over two feet above my ear level! I have the speakers angled downward slightly. Total bush league. But, I still love em!
