Ok I have seen these for 200 bucks. I want a cheap one.

What I am look for is the L-R RCA output to a 1/4 or 1/8 inch headphone output.

Basically, I am trying to appease my wife by playing video games on the headphones, or TV. Whatever. The RCA jacks are nice and accessible on the front of my TV. I just want something I can control the volume and listen to.

I've found a few but they are dang spendy. I almost just want to by a simple stereo receiver, but don't really have the space for the bedroom TV.

Anyone have suggestions. I google it and was annoyed by the wrong google solutions, or the spendy solitions. I can't imagine this could be more that 20 - 40 USDs.

Any suggestions?

You might try the two channel forum. There is a thread in there titled headphone audiophiles.

There are a multitude of headphone amps that take a RCA input, and some that take digital inputs as well. I have a cute beyond (187 dollars) that I really like. You can probably find something even cheaper. I'd also recommend head-fi.org.
