Hey guys havent been on here in a long while.

I got my theater setup in my house and quit messing with it for awhile so i haven't been around much.

But now im back looking for speakers for my fraternity. I have the psb t-65 towers and CHT 18.2, but dont think its practical to use that for my fraternities parties etc.

So im looking into buying some speakers and something to power them for our parties, tailgates, etc. Looking for something cheap like maybe 100-150 a speaker. Dont necessarily need sound quality (first time i have ever said that) but you know how college kids are they just want it loud.

So im looking for something that can get really loud, but not break the bank. I was looking into PA speakers but have not bought any so im not sure what is good and what is not.so any suggestions please!

I was looking into the Peavy PV215'S. Any suggestions on those, 700 watts rms with 2 15 inch PA speakers. Looks like i can get them for about 299 a piece. Anything better out there in that price range?

Also do i just need an amp and mixer to power these and get music to them or what do i need?

You're definitely going to need an amp no matter what you get, I don't know anything about professional audio and DJ brands but there are plenty of people on here than can help you.

Ya im hoping that someone will chime in shortly. But i talked to a guy at sweetwater.com and for my budget he suggested the following:

Mackie Thump TH-15 (which is a powered PA speaker)
and Numark ICDMIX 2 (to hook speakers up to and run music off of)

This comes right in at about 1,000 dollars which is where i would like to be so if anyone has experience with these speakers or any input let me know please. Trying to get this all set up before next weekend.

I thought you wanted cheap! Look for 90's used Sony, Pioneer type speakers. I have a pair of old speakers I use for company parties old sonys 1991 vintage with 2 10inch woofers 6ohms and run them with an old denon 110 watts AVR and alway get told to turn it down. This is out side with a huge area and about 70 people. Any sealed speaker with big drivers from this era if you are looking for loud and cheap.

Thanks for the replies guys, i am looking to stay cheap and for brand new stuff it seems 1000 would be a good deal.

I would prefer less but all the PA stuff worth looking at seems to be around 250-350 a speaker plus the amps and everything that go with it.

Go to guitar center their website has some decent deals for PA speaker systems

For $300 this system will docthe trick http://www.guitarcenter.com/Harbinge...11-i1509687.gc

If they are really looking for a portable system, the fender passport 150 (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-P...53-i1500773.gc) would do the trick. I used this at a recent BBQ house party and it did the trick for background music

It looks like theres many different options out there and right now im looking into the following:
JBL
http://www.guitarcenter.com/JBL-JRX1...47-i1152805.gc

Peavey
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Peavey-P...61-i2007915.gc

Mackie
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Mackie-T...45-i1512407.gc

Obviously the Mackie option would be cheaper since they are already powered, just not sure if they will be able to play loud enough. Im liking the Peaveys a lot and the JBL's look promising but i dont have any way to listen to them so not sure on what to do there.

I want to stay cheaper but like i said 1000 dollars seems reasonable since this will be getting used for many years to come. If i went with one of the unpowered speakers i was thinking maybe a Behringer amp and then some type of mixer to get my music played through (IPOD, CD, etc.)

Either way i go im mainly just looking for loud and nice sounding, i would like some bass extension but if nothing else i could haul my CHT 18.2 from my personal HT and the bass would be covered.

Right now not sure what to get or where to order from so just looking for the best option, so thanks for the help im definitely researching everyones suggestions that yall have given me so i appreciate it.
