I'm looking for a 7-speaker setup for my HT. I'm getting rid of my Klipsch Synergy F30 towers and C3/S3 surrounds as they were too harsh/bright for me. They were OK for movies, but listening to DVD-A and FLAC was disappointing. I am anticipating spending under $3000. I guess I could go with cheapies for the rears since they will really only be used in movies. I'm planning on keeping my MWF-15 sub and buttkicker LFE

I'll be powering them off an Onkyo TX-SR805 that I bought for it's audio-centric quality and tested output of 130w/ch @.1% with all channels driven. Since the Onkyo is THX Ultra2, should I be looking at THX speakers?

Don't care if they are bookshelves or towers or what they look like as long as they are gray or black.

I want something flexible since I'll likely be moving in a year, but my current HT room is approximately 13' across and 17' deep, acoustically treated with GIK tri traps and 6 x ATS fiberglass panels on the primary reflection points.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

These are good and black - NHT - You can still buy them with out the sub.

Get another pair of Absolute Zero's to make 7.1

And, you can get Focal in black

Do not worry about buying THX speakers.

Smaller Paradigm Studio v.5's would be my first recommendation. I love 'em. So much more musical and transparent than the Klipsch's.

Another suggestion if you don't have a brink 'n' mortar Paradigm retailer handy...

Energy RC-70 (front) - $1,200 a pair
Energy RC-LCR (center) - $350 each
Energy RC-10 (two pairs for surrounds) - $300 a pair

Good prices at Vanns.com They have promo codes every so often too. They're well received, laid-back speakers for the money on this forum. Black ash.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!
