Hi, I own a pair of Magnat Zero 8 as well as a pair of Magnat Zero 5 speakers. They sound awesome in every aspect (in my opinion). So a month ago I went to some store and stood infront of some high-end 2.1 system (one speaker = 800€, denon amp was ~600€). It surely didn't sound bad but honestly. Clear sound, nice highs and mids. For my taste the low weren't good (atleast compared to my system) and so I asked some other guy who stood their (which seemed to know a lot about this stuff) why that system is so expensive. He told me that 90% of what you pay is the design.
So here I'm asking you guys: In terms of sound quality, what has changed since 1990 (e.g. my Magnat Zero 8 and Magnat Zero 5)? Is there some technology or materials that make todays speakers superior? One more thing I would like to add is that one of my Magnat Zero 8 speakers weights 30kg while those super expensive stylish 800 speaker weights like 8-10kg. My speakers are 20 years old and still work & sound like a charm. Can you beat such a build quality anyway? :P
