Hi,

Can you please help me build a hometheater system with Energy speakers? I am looking for 5 speakers with sub. My room size is 15x10. My budget is around $600.

Thanks
Kailas

If you want a full 5.1 setup right away, your budget will limit you to something like this:

4 of these:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-DtymH4P...seur-CB-5.html

1 of these:
http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?s...lerid=23328447

1 of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...rgy-_-82269026

As an alternative, a lot of people would people would choose to buy the best front L, front R and center channel speakers you can afford and build around that in the future. Another good option is looking in the used speaker market.

@jjl4004: Thanks for the suggestions. How about Take Classic 5.1 (5 speakers) and add two CF-30 for front L & R? Will this fill the room enough?

He takes center is too small to match the towers with any real authority which is why I would recommend like above

2 pairs of CB-5's
Cc-5/10 center
Energy s10.3 subwoofer

Wouldn't that put you over your $600 budget? I've owned both the CB-5 and CF-30 and think both would fill your room up fine. However, if I were you, I would rather have the S10.3 sub vs the sub that comes with the Takes. From what I understand, the S10.3 is a very capable sub and is a great buy at its current price. I'd also rather have the CC-5 center as opposed to the Take center, but that's just me.

If you're getting all new, 5.1 speakers at the same time for $600, I think you need to compromise. I would rather have a better sub and center with bookshelf speakers than have the CF-30 towers with a lesser center and sub.

Where are you located?

2pr CB-5 @ $99.99/pr
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_732CB5/...kshelf+speaker
CC-5 @ $198 ea
http://www.amazon.com/Energy-CC-5-Ce...4596777&sr=8-1
s10.3 @ $199.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882269026

That's right around $600 and includes free shipping.

I was referring to the OP's thought of getting the Take Classic 5.1 plus two C-30s. That would put him over $600 at current prices, I think.

I was the one who suggested the CB-5x4, CC-5 and S10.3 for $600.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on what you meant.

Unless he gets the CC-30s for $99 each he will be over the $600 budget.

No problem.

I couldn't find the CF-30s for $99 today when I looked for the OP, but you're right and it's good to point out that they have been on sale for that in the past.
