Are these the same?? I can't quite seem to put my finger on the distinction between these two, everything looks to be the same.

Bose Acoustimass Series IV 5.1 Channel Speaker System (regular price $1199)

vs

Bose Acoustimass 10 Series IV Home Entertainment Speaker System (500$ less expensive than the other one)

What am I missing?

To put it politely - they will have the same Bose signature sound.

Are they different models? Why is one priced 500$ higher?

I got the one that was on sale for 699$ (500$ off), I haven't opened it yet, I also got me a Denon 1912.

Should I return the Bose and get me the Energy Take Classic II for 499$ instead?

Which of these 2 would be the most suitable for the game Rocksmith? Since that's probably what I will mostly use it for, along with occasional movie viewing of course.

I do not know about Rocksmith - between Bose and Energy,
I would choose Energy.

I have Rocksmith as well and it rules!!!

So, like the others said already, do yourself a favor and return the Bose speakers. To put it politely, they are marketing garbage!

A friend of mine had the Bose Acoustimass somethign-or-other and I was yelling at him for months to get rid of it. He finally listened to me after months of pestering and went with a KEF setup and he was blown away at the difference. If I remember correctly I had him purchase an entry-level KEF home theater in a box setup for about $450. He was not only amazed at the better sound, but the speakers were actually lower profile than his Bose system.

So, on to your system. Is the $700 or so you spent on the Bose your budget? Are you more concerned with sound or are you looking for something discrete?

I'm definitely more concerned about the sound, I won't be playing anything that loud, I just need something that's very clear and responsive.

Homewerk do you have any experience with Denon receivers? I pretty much want to use my Home Theater as a guitar amp (with Rocksmith), so I guess I'm just looking for the best setup for that purpose under/around 1000 bucks.

They're both the same. If you look closely they are the Bose AM10 Series IV.

You can do better for less.

Either one of these systems is actually better.

^Thank You...I think I'll definitely go with the Energy Classic, too many positive reviews to pass up, hope they match up well with Denon 1912 and Rocksmith!

But that's pretty manipulative of Futureshop to have the same thing listed twice at 2 different price and making you think that you're saving 500$ on one of them.

What am I missing?

The one that is originally more expensive has a powered acoustimass module the other one is a passive acoustimass module.
At the discount pricing on the powered set it is not a bad deal.
While I think the Bose are overpriced for what you get, I don't think they sound terrible like so many others here.

All of the tiny satellite speaker systems have their limitations and for all the praise the Energy system gets I think it is on par with the higher line HTIB systems.

At the discounted price the Bose set with the powered acoustimass module http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...396f0d7b89en02 is not a bad system.

Regards,
Charlie
