Which of these 2 would be the most suitable for the game Rocksmith? Since that's probably what I will mostly use it for, along with occasional movie viewing of course.
I have Rocksmith as well and it rules!!!
So, like the others said already, do yourself a favor and return the Bose speakers. To put it politely, they are marketing garbage!
A friend of mine had the Bose Acoustimass somethign-or-other and I was yelling at him for months to get rid of it. He finally listened to me after months of pestering and went with a KEF setup and he was blown away at the difference. If I remember correctly I had him purchase an entry-level KEF home theater in a box setup for about $450. He was not only amazed at the better sound, but the speakers were actually lower profile than his Bose system.
So, on to your system. Is the $700 or so you spent on the Bose your budget? Are you more concerned with sound or are you looking for something discrete?
I'm definitely more concerned about the sound, I won't be playing anything that loud, I just need something that's very clear and responsive.
Homewerk do you have any experience with Denon receivers? I pretty much want to use my Home Theater as a guitar amp (with Rocksmith), so I guess I'm just looking for the best setup for that purpose under/around 1000 bucks.
The one that is originally more expensive has a powered acoustimass module the other one is a passive acoustimass module.
At the discount pricing on the powered set it is not a bad deal.
While I think the Bose are overpriced for what you get, I don't think they sound terrible like so many others here.
All of the tiny satellite speaker systems have their limitations and for all the praise the Energy system gets I think it is on par with the higher line HTIB systems.
