I'm setting up an exercise room. The room is approximately 12' x 14' with a attic above. I'm installing a new wall-mount TV and I plan on using a 10-year old Kenwood receiver I've got lying around.

Most of the music that will be pumped through the speakers will probably come from DirecTV stations, or via Iphone using an AirportExpress for wireless hook-up to the receiver.

I haven't purchased in-wall/in-ceiling speakers for about 7 years. I currently have several pairs of Niles, some are better than others. My game room, bedroom and outdoor set-up Niles (if I remember correctly were lower end) are a bit shallow playing music. I have 4 surrounds in my family room that should much better--but that room also has a sub. I have Monitors in my HT to to finish the picture. (Niles were a recommendation from the HT tech--who hasn't called me back on this project!!!).

I'd like to keep the budget around $200 (pair) or less. I started off looking at Niles, but I'm going to go over $250, and I'm probably getting the lower end versions, plus I'd like to get a little more bass out of these.

I saw the Snell AMC650R's and the Monoprice discussion. Would I be better off going in that direction? This is going to be a do-it-yourself job. I've never installed by myself, but I have removed several of my Niles and replaced after putting sound material in the ceiling.

Thanks for your input.

This Snell is on close out price - I have their bookshelf speakers, and their
in-ceiling speakers would be my first option, if going that route.
Check them out
