Newbie to home theaters. Recently purchased Yamaha RX-V571. Hooked up center channel speaker, including front-left and front-right Cerwin-Vega SE 200 speakers (8-inch). Have no subwoofer, as I hoped the vegas would provide enough bass. However, I wasn't getting the bass or low frequency response I thought these speakers could provide. So, I removed the front panel to see that the foam surrounds were half missing.
So here's my question: should I try to repair the foam ($30 for kit) or simply buy a powered sub and two small front left and right speakers. Will the Se 200 speakers, if repaired, provide the bass that a dedicated powered subwoofer would provide? Thanks.
