I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on them or used it?

I was thinking about getting it as like a filler.

I currently have some

Polk A9 - front
Polk cs2 - center
Polk fxi a6 - rears

And an onkyo tx nr709 receiver

in my opinion, if you want a decent sub, go 10+
In the past I have tried 8" subs from Velodyne, Yamaha, Polk and they never could match the 10" velodyne for the deep down effortless bass.

I just bought a budget sub and it was a mistake! I would wait and save up and look into Epik, HSU or Outlaw. I bought a BIC F12 and it does produce the bass, but just not to my liking! If your not to picky and just looking for a budget sub I would suggest the F12. It can be had for under $200 on Amazon! Take a peek in the Subwoofer forum and you can get a better idea on Subs!

Your RTI A9's put out more and better bass than that monoprice sub, and they go deeper

You could use it as footrest, but that's about it.

You are better off just setting your speakers to "large" in your avr & just run without a sub till you can afford the Epik.

I think it really depends on how big your room is.

I can't give you an answer now, but I just ordered one for my bedroom - I will have it Wednesday and can give you some feedback on it. I'm not expecting miracles, just hopefully getting some 50-100hz action from my bookshelves.

I believe they are the right "powered woofers" (sub is a misnomer in this case) in the right situation.

I have two in a budget system (12x14 bedroom) and they do what I intend them to - add some low extension to my acoustic suspension book shelves. I have no way of measuring them but they probably go in the mid 40s and the bass provided from them on tunes I'm intimately familiar with seems accurate. They perform well enough on action movies when kept within the realm they are intended to and with moderate will rattle stuff in the room when things go "boom."

For the price ($158 a pair/shipped and I wouldn't recommend less than two to help keep from pushing them to their excursion limits) and expectation they do well.

But......I have to wonder why you would ask about these while mentioning an Empire.

OOOPPPPS.....I have two Dayton Audio Sub 80s....NOT the Monoprice as linked....so sorry.

Came in the mail! I haven't really had time to play with it, but I spent about 15 minutes. I run a Gizmo Amp from Chase Home Theater (formerly known as TCA), which has a subwoofer out and a built in 100hz crossover. Since the Monoprice sub only has RCA in, I used a Y-adapter to convert it into one coax line. I'll take some pics, etc.

The sub is not in any ideal place - I'm using it under my desk against the wall. But from a few quick songs I definitely noticed some low notes filling in. Not super low, of course, but Feral by Radiohead definitely had some bassline going.

More later!

On another note, I also purchased a Bic Venturi V1220 from Walmart today for a good price, so I'll be able to compare the two in a couple of weeks.
