Hello all, this is my first time joining a forum and posting so please forgive any mistakes

I've narrowed my speaker choices down to either

1-Paradigm - Signature S8 + C5 + ADP3
2-KEF - Reference 205/2 + 204/2 + 206/2

If anyone has any input/insight into my speaker choices please reply with your opinions.

Paradigm hands down!! IMO. Have you listened to both? Try and let your ears make the choice!! Both would be great but Paradigm is hard to beat!! Amazing speakers!!!!

Don't buy speakers that you can't listen to especially when the speakers you are looking at cost thousands of $$. Go to a dealer that has them on stock.

I do agree on listening, but even that has limitations. The system, power and speakers, and environment where you listen to equipment plays a HUGE part. A cheap system well dialed in for the room will sound better than a very expensive system not properly tuned.

I would opt for the Paradigm. The KEF's I'm sure are very nice but they have Ti tweeters. The Paradigm Sig's have Be. Big difference if you like clean highs. The Be tweeter's are generally used on much more expensive speakers.

I agree that you definitely need to listen to the speakers before you buy. What area of the country do you live in BASO. Paradigm is a fairly well distributed brand and should have a dealer somewhere in your area, unless you live in a rural area or something. Even if you have to drive an hour or two I would recommend it. The Paradigm set you are interested in is going to retail around $15,000 or so. I may be slightly off on that figure as it has been a while since I priced Paradigm top line. KEF speakers are generally well regarded on this forum also, but harder to find a dealer in certain areas of the country. If you must buy sound unheard make sure you get something in writing that states you can return the speakers if you are not happy.

I have listened to the Sig 8, but this was a few years ago when they first came out. They are very rich and detailed and their highs are right up there with some of the best. Very good tight bass as well. You might also consider asking around the forum in the Meet Forum to see if anyone might have either one of these setups in your area. They may allow you to come by and have a listen.

Big difference, huh? To base a speaker purchase on that difference alone would be absurd. Even if the OP gave a thorough listening test to both speakers and preferred the Paradigms, being able to definitively attribute that preference to the Be tweeters would be fantasy. C'mon. Honestly, to enter into a speaker buying comparison with that sort of biased thinking would be foolish.

Although the advice to listen before purchase is good, it is not always possible.

Both of the options you are considering are very good systems!

Between just the 2 systems you propose:

1-Paradigm - Signature S8 + C5 + ADP3
2-KEF - Reference 205/2 + 204/2 + 206/2

I would choose the KEF system, although it would come at higher cost in the U.S.. Either is capable of excellent performance.

I heard both and I really like the kef, I thought they image better. I found the sig to be a bit more open a more sensitive. I like the style and the finish on the kef more.

Fact of the matter is that there Paradigm owners outnumber Kef owners at least 12 to 1 on this site which is evident in the amount of owners in this forum recommending the digms with pretty ridiculous reasoning like Be tweeters.

I could easily say get the KEF as they have a flatter response both on and off axis, but what does that mean to the OP exactly (although my statement is more objective)?

If you ask me, since sound is subjective and you'll have no clue what they sound like, I would go for the product to be known for slightly better quality control, and that would be the KEF.

I would unequivocally get the KEF Reference.

KEF Reference or Revel Ultima.

I own Sig 8's so therefore biased. I love them and would purchase them again without question.

I have Kef and spent a lot of time testing both. BTW, I live in Canada and the KEFs are British and much less common in North America.

At the end of the day it comes down to what they sound like to you.

Pioneer SC-65
KEF, Q5 Front, Q9 Center, Q1 rear, Q800DS
Epson 3020 Projector, 135 in 235.1 screen
OPPO 103D, Apple TV, XBOX 360
