I am looking for a center speaker. First, let me describe my setup, since I'm sure no one has the main speakers I have.
Receiver - Denon AVR2112-CI
Center - Energy Take Classic
Surrounds - Energy Take Classics
Subwoofer - HSU STF-2Mains- DCM Timeframe TF-500
(They are a 6" 2 way"trannyline" design.
8 ohms nominal
Recommended power range 20-150 watts.
They weigh 45lbs each)Here is a picture of them.
It's not my picture, but those are the speakers. Here is my room layout
. Ignore the part that says "soon to be energy RC-mini" (for center.) I was just surmising - I can't even find a RC-Mini center. I guess they are discontinued.
Of everything I have, I believe the center needs to be upgraded pronto. I just don't have enough knowledge to be able to look at the specs of center speakers and deem them a good match to my mains. I'll say one thing for sure, the TF500's have a beautiful sound stage. I didn't even tweak them and could've SWORN that the sound was coming from right in front of me, and that's without hooking up the center. The only thing is, it's a bit hard to hear dialogue.
I was looking at the Pioneer SP-C21 for $50 because I have read good things about it, but I have no idea how it'll pair up with my TF500's. (Edit, forgot the cardinal rule of putting a price range: I'm looking to spend in the $100-150 price range. Bang for the buck sorta thing. I'm willing to wait for a sale.)
At some point I'll upgrade my Energy Take surrounds, but those can wait.
I appreciate any advice or input offered.
