The only Denon I would NOT recommend is the 1312. The 1612 is a good starting point.

Sounds good!

Paradigm: Mini Monitor/pr . . . Monitor Center 3/center ~ $1200

Focal is just too hard to find in my area. Any thoughts on these choices?

I found the Paradigm Monitor line kind of "dry" and lifeless. The SEs and up are another story. Much richer, fuller sound.
As for the other ones. All good. Focals are hard to find. But, the Chorus 700 series (706v + 700 Center) would be about the same price range as the others mentioned. Go to their web site and they should have a dealer locator.

Sounds good!

Thanks for the input. Seems like a lot of companies, other than speaker companies, make a great premium product but their quality suffers in their lower priced product. I demoed the Paradigm Studio 20's, which were very nice, but were $1300/pr. I found a dealer, for Focal, in San Diego, where I visit often. He doesn't demo Focals, only Sonance. I'll keep looking. He said the 806V's were $750/pr.
