I am a new member to the forum. I wondered if there are any forum members that have built Fried speaker kits like myself.

The new company does not offer kits if they are still in business.
I purchased first parts kit in 1980. I continued with driver upgrades using series crossovers and t-lines for mid bass and subwoofers.

Well, this isn't what I expected

I'm sure they're great, but I probably would have chosen a less fatalistic name for my speaker company.

There is a DIY forum that you might enjoy bringing this up in. Check it out.

Nethawk thanks for the reply. Anytime I discuss the design parameters I have discovered in these designs it gets to the point of writing a thesis.

That's because he offers only claims with no documentation. And his claims are spurious. Not that there's anything wrong with TLs, but they're not the be all and end all that he portrays them to be.

If by that you mean 'Bud' Fried, he can't seeing as he died several years ago.

One of my friends in grad school had built a set of Fried speakers. This was in the early 90s. They sounded very nice to me.

For every new thing I learn, I forget two things I used to know.

They are nice. Very.

I can help out with kit info if you are truly interested.

FYI you will need a very savvy cabinet maker. The cabinets, built properly, are difficult at best. That said as long as you stay away from inverted and or titanium tweeters, they are forgiving as far as driver choices.

Jim Salk took over the Fried moniker (pronounced Freeeeed) and there are no kits available from him. There is just one model available as of now--a tower with the same 0W2 tweeter that Bud Fried used, a series crossover that I desiged, and a transmission line cabinet developed by Paul Kittinger.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Fried will be partnering with Schiit Audio in future shows with a banner announcing the arrangement as Fried Schiit?
