Please help! I am building a home theater with either in wall or on wall speakers. Will be used 80% movies 20% music. My budget is around 4K. I am considering definitive technology mythos xtr-60 or mythos ten, and possibly artison masterpiece. I am open to other suggestions as well. Please advise.

Room size, and layout considerations (is there a reason for on/in-walls)? Is $4k for speakers/subs/receiver?

Do you have a quick sketch of how this is going to be placed (speakers and seats) in a very long, narrow room like that?

Tv is mounted over fireplace facing the long direction of the room. The other end of the room is a bar.

Ok so you have the 45' area cut down, just one row of seating? How far back from the tv will your seats be?

Ok that is far more manageable speaker wise! You will still need a sub capable of filling the entire volume of the room if you want bass you can feel. Those Def Techs are still much to small, I wouldn't bother with them. I would look at something like JBL L-series, LC2, L820, L810 for the 5 channels, then something like an Onkyo 809 receiver, for the kicker add a Captivator 1000 for an attempt to pressurize that room.

Id suggest 2 subs, Hsu VTF series would be a good start. Receivers, onkyo is always good. Speakers.... audition, find what YOU like in your price range.

Dynaudio Focus 260s, Focus 210C, DM 2/6, Hsu VTF2 MK4, Oppo BDP-103,
Naim Nait XS-2, Jolida FX Tube DAC, Integra DTR-40.2, 55" Panasonic Plasma

You're probably annoyed with all the questions, but out of curiosity do you plan on mounting the speakers above your tv, which is over the fireplace? If so you're going to need speakers designed for that kind of height. If that's the case I change my recommendation to these JBL 8320's for all channels if they are high on the wall.

I plan to mount the center directly above or below the tv. The left and rights are at 8 feet but I may try to move them down.

Ok, as long as you can get them closer to ear level it won't be a big deal. Ideally you would want your l/c/r all at the same height and identical, so if you can swing it three of those LC2's I linked earlier across the front would be best. All mounted equally spaced and level below your tv.
