I currently own the 4 pioneer bs41's and a c21... I am pretty satisfied, but want something a bit better, I am on a budget. The pioneers seem to lack highs, I don't listen to much music, just gaming and movies. Would this be a good upgrade? I am using a 10 inch woofer, so lows wont be an issue. Also any other cheap bookshelf recommendations are appreciated, thanks!

If you like horn tweeters then they may work for you. Will definitely be brighter than your Pioneers.

The pioneers just don't seem to have much impact, very even. I just want something more dynamic. The pioneers get great reviews, but they don't really impress me, dunno... could be my receiver, denon avr391.

thats not true. the pioneers were designed to have a flatish response. Like someone suggested, you should try out the horn tweeters from klipsch. also, try the arx A1. i've heard good things about its planar tweeter.

hey sdb30, I have the wb14s , was using them as surrounds with the wf34s..
now have the wb14s as fronts for pc gaming plus sub 10... very good the highs are very clear with the klipsch.
But, I also have the Energy rc 10's and if you can spend the extra $50 it'd be worth the cost. Vanns has them on sale right now. but noticed newegg has the klipsch on sale !
I think either would be good with sub as long as the room isn't huge.
How big is the room ?

The room is only 12 x12, strictly a game/movie room. I'll check out the energy speakers as well

What are the thoughts on various Polk speakers? They seem to be really popular, and they're priced well.

The Boston A26 will also give you more treble.
The price is for New, and not refurbish.
Price is for each.

I would look at the RTi series they will put the Pioneers to shame

I absolutely love my RTi4's for such a small speaker they have a great mid-range, and the highs have great detail

Nope. The Pioneers are on the dull side. I A/B'd them at Best Buy. Some people really like a laid back sound. That's why a lot of people like them. Some poeple want more sizzle. You must fall into that category.

Well, I took all the grills of the speakers and turned the treble up a little bit on the receiver and it helped out a bit. I think I may just wait and save up enough money to buy some nice towers instead of getting more bookshelf speakers. Thanks for all the advice!

I have a pair of wb14's. They sound great for their size and look good too. Not much bass, but if you have a sub, they don't need it.

Look into high sensitivity speakers with horn tweeters like Klipsch. Klipsch isn't exactly budget friendly though.

You may like the Acoustech line, which is similar to Klipsch and cost less.

I went exactly opposite compared to how you are now. I originally had the Acoustechs for awhile (bright) which I loved, but changed over to the Pioneers and found that I liked them better.
