Is there a good set of 5.1 speakers including sub on sale for $500 to $800. I was thinking some that may be on speaker stands, the front can be a tower.

I will use a denon 2312 to power.

I was looking at cheapy martin logans but they aren't made by martin logan.
Thanks in advance,

damthrill

There are a few posts with recommendation in this price range, you can search or browse through the topics in the speaker forum.

While seldom recommended, I would take a look at Mordaunt Short Carnival line. There are very few owners here on AVS, but every review I have found on the internet gives high praise for both quality and value. I own their small monitors, the Carnival 2, and every time they're turned on they make me smile. An entire 5.0 setup can be had from Amazon for $900, $800 if the Carnival 1 are used for surrounds.

You could buy two pair of Energy RC-10's for $250/pr
http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it...ures/542469405

Add the matching RC LCR center for another $250
http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it...ures/542600578

You'd only have $50 left but you could buy this cheap sub for $100 and be $50 over his budget.
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=300-635

Or skip the sub for now and save up until you can ge a better one.

Or if you really want Martin Logan, Newegg has the ML-10 on sale for $130 each with promo code EMCNFNG32. Get 4 of those.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882981007

I don't know where you find the matching center speaker though.

You guys just flooded me with options, this will actually take a little bit to sort thru. I currently have the abyss by martin logan sub woofer. I think it sounds good. maybe I can look for something that delivers near the same bass with alot less price as you guys say after i get 5 five speakers.

Good call holding off on the sub. The "hidden gem" budget speaker is the Behringer 2031p. You can get 5 for $650 (single). You wont be able to match the big dynamic accurate sound with the typical mini monitors available in this price range.

Not quite sure how that covers the mid range with a tweeter and 8 3/4" woofer?

Pretty well actually

Only at 60 degrees off axis does the mid range even really start to droop

I really like the Level Two set from them. LCR for a little more than $500

But I'm biased because I own them. Good luck!

Bookshelf speakers can easily be placed on stands...

What exactly is your definition of "stand mount"?

Hi, if your holding off on a sub I would probably recommend these:

http://www.lockwaresystems.com/D10HT-111-169.html

(Give paul a call for an accurate price and cabinet)

I am a swan/hivi fan, so I'm a bit biased, but I have been nothing short of amazed by the way swan sounds. The drivers in this model tend to be rated quite highly:

M4N: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...97-434&FTR=m4n
TN25: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=297-408
BG8N: (Not sold in America, however, being the bass driver, the towers are rated down to 35hz)

Being that swan's track record with me has been exceptional, I can only imagine that these would sound great for the price. Plus with the deep bass, holding off on a new subwoofer will be much easier xP

Those look cool but with $120 shipping it takes him over $1000.

Maybe he can spend more?

That's why I said give paul a call, I'm not quite sure how accurate the prices are. You can find his number on the swan dealer list.

The Jamos have raging reviews, are they really that good? What I meant by stand was a small frame or slender stand that holds the speakers about ear level particularly for the rears since fronts would be a tower, the center i have to think about based on the placement of my projector screen I can make a stand for that, I can weld a stand for the center and paint it if I can't find one to get the center to my desired height.

I like the rich elegant wood look but wife wants boring black, is their sub any good?

They're decent speakers, but remember you're in a large room. These Jamo's have 4" woofers.

Is the HSU STF-2 sub any good? It's very good and comes highly recommended in its price range. Or do you mean a Jamo sub? I wouldn't get the Jamo sub210 that you see on Vanns website. It cant compare to the HSU by any stretch of the imagination.

Here are some photos of the Dark Apple S606, they do look elegant.

Have no idea what language that is.
