I am currently shopping for a $300 5.0 Speaker System and was wondering if you guys could help me with make the best choice. I'm sure this has a lot to do with personal preference, so I understand I'll probably see mixed opinions.

I am planning on buying a 10" JBL Subwoofer ($50) from my brother-in-law.

The speakers that I am currently looking at are...

Energy Take Classic 5-Pack ($223 @ Amazon)
Polk Audio Blackstone TL150 ($300 @ Amazon)

Let me know what you think. Is there any other options that might be better?

I'd also consider a 5.1 speaker system for about $350. Such as...

Klipsh HD Theater 300 (Under $350 @ Amazon)

Thanks in advance.

I guess they have to be satellite speakers?

I'd go with 4 Pioneer BS21 and 1 SP-C21

You can discuss this lineup in here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1278774

They really don't have to be anything specific...I'm just looking for the best bang for my buck with a $300 budget or $350 if I am including a sub.

How bout $350 for the 5.0 set if you have another $50 to spend?

This will be way better than little satellite speakers.

Thanks afrogt, but I really barely have $300 in my budget for 5 speakers, I'd like to be closer to $250 if possible.

You could get this Energy package for $250. They're really rebadged s426 speakers. The Jamo s606 package is better though.

$250 off w/Promo Code EMCYTZT1397 ,ends 4/5

Thanks again afrogt. That set would be great, but I'm probably not going to buy for another few months or so, but I will keep an eye out for another potential sale. These speakers will be used for my basement that I am finishing in June-July.

Keep a sharp eye (daily) on the Martin Logan MLT-2 system at Newegg. It seems to go on sale for $299 frequently and would be a steal at that price.

Great...really hard to ask about bargain pricing now for something you wont purchase for another 2-3 months.

Just wait until you're ready to buy then, not much point shopping now. New models and inventory will be out by then and other outgoing stuff may be discounted.

Newegg has them priced for 349, should one hold out for a lower price?
