I have two klipsch vf-36 speakers and an older 12" klipsch sub and my system is lacking mids. I'm looking at getting a reciever with multi-EQ (maybe denon 2112ci or 1712). But another thread mentioned that a klipsch RC-42 would give me the mids I desire.

Would this help on listening to music? Is that the right center to get for my system?

I'm going to have 2 rears and 2 sides from a 13yo yamaha box set until I can afford better sattelites.

I have no problem getting new but not current speakers.

edit: replacing the reciever with a denon 1712 has solved all of my sound quality issues

A center wont help you at all listening to music unless you have a multichannel music source. Most music is two channel which only uses your left and right speakers. Now if you're listening to Music DVD's or watching Dolby Digital 5.1 programs on TV then yes you're center channel will get used.

A new receiver with Multi EQ or XT will help calibrate your room better, but what receiver do you currently own?

Yeah thats what I was affraid of. I'm going to get the denon 1712, 1713 or 2112ci for the multiEQ XT (choice depends on price and features I want).

I have a yamaha R-V503

Au contraire, I have found joy listening to music in 7 channel stereo mode. I may not be a fan of Parson's taste in music, but at least he believes multi channel music is the future and I love it.
