hello guys, i hope this is the right section to post this on, im an audio amateur and im very confused on how to procede next in my purchases. At the moment i have a senheiser hd600 headpone, an o2amp from jdslabs (headphone amp) and a creative x-fi elite pro, i recently bought the 5.1 energy take classic speakers but i have no idea what i need to be able to use them, i supose i have to buy a receiver but then are the sound card and the amp useless now and should be sold? i have about 400 dollars to spend on a receiver wich only use would be to be used with my computer to listen to music with my headphones and watch movies with the take classics (i have no interest in using xbox360 or anything else).

i hope i made the situation clear, i really dont know what to sell and what to keep so i would really be able to use your wise advice, thanks a lot in advance guys!

I'm not 100% sure on the creative x-fi elite pro but it doesn't seem like it can do every thing your asking for if your looking at running a 5.1 system as well as your headphones. I'd look at getting some thing like a Denon AVR-1613 which should do all that your asking for.

thank you for your reply!, so you would recomend me to sell the sound card and the amp and just use the receiver? (i dont have any interest in blue ray or 3D movies, i only need it to use he speakers in the highest quality posible without spending too much for it)

You definitely need an amplifier source to power the Take Classics. Grab the 1612 for $250 while you can. There's no reason to get the 1613 unless you want the networking feature; it's the newer model that just came out this week, but it's not a better receiver in terms of amplifier/sound.

Also, see this comparison of 1612 to 1613 features on the Denon.ca website.

wow I didn't know the 1613 came out this last week, I thought it has been out for a while! Even I got to learn some thing new! if that is the case I'd agree with them and go with a 1612

Wait on selling the headphone amp until after you get the receiver.
