thanks for posting your fluance XL's mr. hanko. i loved them. im still on the hunt for a good floor standing speaker. 80% movies and 20% music. i think fluance XL7f will do the job just right since its got an 8" woofer on the bottom.

actually, what im really planning is getting 4 floor standing speakers and a center. im torn between the fluance XL7F's and the emptek e55ti's. i've read good comments about the empteks too but right now they're a little bit more expensive ($700/pair) compared to those fluance XL7f's($500/pair). i already have a good sub for low frequency support. its a bic acoustech PL200. its been already 3 years now since a bought that sub and it still rocks and shakes!

my plan is to wait 'til black friday because i heard the empteks will have a black friday sale for the e55ti's for $470/pair. now that's a steal. but if not, im gonna get those fluance XL7f's instead.

I too would want the E55TI's for $470 a pair. It's impossible/rare to find good deals in Canada.

You'll just have to wait until November. Just frequently check empteks website.

They have a 10% discount (SUPPRT22 coupon code).

mr. hank0, does this 10% discount applies to all speakers? if that's the case, then i'll just get the XL7F's instead of the empteks. as audioholics compared the two side by side, the only real difference is the clarity but the xl7f's make it up for the extra bass. and my purpose for an upgrade is mainly for movies. i'm planning to separate my 2 channel (stereo) system on a different room.

thanks for informing me about the discount.

i checked their website and added 2 pairs of xl7f's and a center speaker. applied the code you've told me, then there's a pop up window offering a 5% discount. all in all it's a total of 15% discount. everything for $1,007.90. now that's a steal!!!! made up my mind. im gonna get these babies after i'll zero my paypal account. thanks a lot Mr. Hank0!

This may be a dumb question.. I moved my speakers today and the rubber pads underneath them have taking a beating from the spikes. I see dents in the floor. Since my speakers are on a hard surface, do I need the feet? I understand spikes are for carpet and for better sound from keeping them off the floor. But since The XL7F have 4 posts holding the speakers a good amount off the stand/base, I would think the floor spikes are not necessary?

jaygax, It just popped in my mind today; I don't think a speaker that ranges from 4-8 ohms would be a good choice as surrounds.

Fluance have been reviewed before and had stellar reviews by stereo reviewers. It's a Canadian company that uses quality OEM parts. They cut cost not on engineering and parts but on marketing and distribution. They do the opposite of Bose! Bose spends it's money on marketing not engineering and definitely not parts. They use substandard cheap parts.

I just picked up a pair of AVBP2 surround speakers that will mount behind the listening position, in the corner of the room, mounted on high corner bookshelf units which will put them about 7' high. I will toe them in so the null faces the listening position. I currently have a matching set of (4) Klipsch WB14s that I'm using as my L/R/SUR along with a klipsch WC24 for my center, and I hope to get a more enveloping surround field with the AVBP2s. I will update this thread in a week or so once I calibrate them with Audyssey XT and get some time on them with some familiar movies and PL II Music............Fingers crossed. smile.gif

I have these, which are now showing as discontinued. When I was shopping, I did not like the specs of the AV series. If the SX is the most you can afford then you should go with them (XL would be even better but they are twice as much). Follow them on twitter because they offer coupons often...

Heads up.....

Fleabay sells the ES1 for around 300(last four auction in a month)-the vendor is Fluance but starts with "tr......." That's 150 off retail.

And....The XLFL7 can be preordered with a 75 dollar savings by using Code XLPREORDER for a total of 429 for a pair. 5 wk lead time.

I want those XLF7's but my gear is jammmed into a corner and I fit 8" in there.....;

Ciao!

I'm on a budget as well and for me it was between the Fluance and the Emptek's. With the BF sales i was able to get the Emptek E5TI towers for only $580 for the pair.
It was close, for those of us that have limited budgets I think that either one of these manufacturers would be a good choice. Enjoy your choice!

Sold my HTD Level Three Towers for Fluance XL7F Towers. Absolutely loving them. A tremendous bargain for sure. They just happen to sound darn good. No harshness whatsoever, yet detailed with tremendous bass in my listening space. Oh yeah, they're also beautiful pieces of furniture.

Question which surrounds would be better? The AVBP2 or the XLBP from how they would be mounted they would be behind me and a little above me

Looking at getting the XL7S for the fronts and the center to go along with it... how does it sound with music/movies/games?

As I listened to them for more hours I began to sense that for my taste the Fluance were a bit too polite. They practically made everything sound smooth which created this sense of the speakers being one dimensional to these old ears. They definitely come alive more so when the speakers are toed in directly at you. On the other hand, the HTD Level Three Towers were also smooth but had more liveliness in the midrange and tweeter. Although I parted with both of these in favor of a pair of JBL Studio 530's I would recommend these to anyone for the price. To these ears though they just didn't make me believe at times that I was hearing what the musicians or engineer intended me to hear. The JBL's are more believable to me in that regard.

If you're looking for a tower that makes practically all music sound good these might be for you. They turned out to be not as exciting as I would like music to be for me. To get a bit more high frequency energy you have to toe the towers in directly at your listening position. Now this could be that my old ears can't perceive high frequency detail as well as some. Nonetheless when I researched these I noticed others make the same observation. They aren't bad by any stretch. It really comes down to what you expect to hear coming from recorded music.

Anyone have experience with Fluance's small bipole surround speakers?  These look decent for $120/pair.  Thinking about ordering a set.

Not the towers but the surrounds used for the fronts.

Hey guys.  I'm in the process of deciding between the Fluance XL series or the PSB Image series.  Now, the PSBs will cost me double the price of the Fluance, but I'm wondering if that extra price for the PSBs would give me a noticeably better sound as far as mids and highs.  I'm not too worried about the low end as I'll be running subs.

Sorry for the late reply, if you look up my recent posts there is a thread on the bipole that myself and another member bought with a few more people coming in that may be of assistance to you.

Tldr , I have the xlbp, like them.
