i was on Home Depot website looking for a insecticide for garden use and stumbled upon some speakers for sale. HD online has some, what seems to be, some incredible deals on Pyle speakers and audio gear. probably not the best stuff, but a 7-way (dual 12in) PA 1600watt speaker for just $139, dual 15in for $189, and free shipping..... i am kinda baffled to say the least.

at minimum, has to be at least good enough for the backyard BBQ get-togethers. lots of other Pyle gear cheap.....

I hear Pyle amps suck. I heard Pyle car subwoofers in a friends home stereo before. They were 12 inches. It sounded pretty good to me. He thought they were cheap quality and sold them to a friend. I think some pyle speakers sound good for the price. Try them out. Maybe it will sound good.

Back in the 70s, Pyle stuff was considered pretty good equipment ... I wonder what happened to that company?

I would much rather go with a cheap brand that doesn't have a horrible reputation.

$99 15" 2-way PA has to be about the same quality as the Pyle stuff, no?

Pyle Pro did used to be a good product (the specs of drivers seemed ok).

When you think about how many drivers those Pyles have, and how much larger the cabinets are, take a second to think about how they're making money on the speakers...

I can tell you right now those $130 MCM's have a $55 woofer

well, i think the Pyle stuff is just older left-over crud nobody wants.

so, you think the MCM cheapo stuff would perform better and last longer than the Pyle stuff on HD website? i have been looking for some cheap stuff i can tote to the park with a amp, dvd player, and flatscreen to watch movies at bbq.

what's your take on those Pyle amps? maybe this so i can also dj some (funny it says 220v while other products say 0v, so maybe wrong info?)

with two of these like you mentioned
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/555-10375

with a cheapo blu ray
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/58-16170

or maybe these speakers

thoughts on this?

edit - and, HD is not the cheapest online, PartsExpress has the amp thingy for less, and it is a 110v unit

Also check Sonic Electronix. While I've only used them for car audio equipment (great vendor & awesome car audio prices), they also carry PA/DJ type stuff, too.

thus far i have come up with this set

Pyle Speakers $112 ea
http://www.provantage.com/pyle-pphp1593~7PYLE0A1.htm

Pyle multi-function amp/pre-amp w/ VHF microphones $189
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=248-4074&FTR=pwma3003t

Pyle speaker stands $54
PYLE PSTK103 at Amazon

Blu-Ray $80
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/58-16170

i still need a "cheap" 47-60" 1080P LCD. i am thinking about running this gear from a 3kWatt inverter off a pair of marine batteries (will recharge them via solar panel(s). do these Pyle speaker provide enough bass?

anyone of feedback if this setup would make a ok setup for doing some tailgating at a local park. any feedback appreciated.

i went over to the dj forums to ask, and its funny, they all use powered speaker units and have varying mixers from console to software based. they too agree that Pyle is on the junky side....

i think what i'll do for the meantime is to turn my bose two-way boxes into mid/hi (just need to replace woofer choke with a proper bandpass, and then get two cheap 18" sub boxes from MCM http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/555-10325&cid=prodCrossSell

i'll put pedestal cups in my bose and use a 36" pole betwen sub box and bose. even my bose are low end, so to keep costs down i will use cheap low end stuff and mod it where needed (the 18" sub boxes need some work and need a better choke coil, etc).

i'll take pics of the setup when completed.

thnx
