I put this question to the assembled owners (and cineastes, especially):

What would you use to drive a 7.4 system of B&W CT 800 series?

Specifically, I'm referring to these:

2 CT8 LR
1 CT8 CC
4 CT8 DS
4 CT8 SW.

Thanks guys and gals in advance for any help you can provide.

Well that's in broad terms what I was thinking, but was wondering if anyone has put together a dedicated projo theater and what amps they have had good luck with?

A budget would help.

www.emotiva.com

www.outlawaudio.com

These are usually considered the best deals for amplification.

I would want the subs separate from the mains for multiple reasons

http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/7700.html

4 of these, 1 for each sub

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=300-811

If that's to much money, one of these for the surrounds

http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/...roducts/upa500

With an XP3 for up front.

4 of these for the subs

What is your budget?
How big is your room?
How far away is your listening position?
Is the room acoustically treated?
How loud do you want the system to play?

I'd throw two pro amps at the subs. Crown something, Behringer on a budget.

Craig

Room size isn't known yet. To generalize it, it would be a large room.

Two rows of seating, probably 11 and 14 feet away respectively.

The room will be acoustically treated.

How loud? Reference level.

I'd use the big ATI or a Bryston amp if I were looking for separates.

One ATI AT1807 amp or four Crown XLS 1500 amps.

The AT1807 should be good @ 200wpc RMS into 8 ohms & the XLS1500 is 300wpc RMS into 8 ohms.
