I've been putting together a collection for them for almost 3 months now. I didn't post to this thread, but I have suggested just a few rock songs that I think might sound good in the Phil thread. Once I get them I will start posting here.

I can't help but feel like the very first thing I'll play through the Phils just may be the Imperial March performed by the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and Erich Kunzel. What can I say, I'm a star wars nut. tongue.gif:o

I just got the Dave Mathews CD that was recommended. Very nice--I'll put a sample on my Captal Audio Fest demo CD. I do think the Phils sound better with more fill on vocals like this. The voice lacks a little focus with very light fill. Big orchestral material, OTOH, sounds much more realistic with less fill.

I was referring specifically to the Max Payne 2 Theme song, not "The Last Goodbye". However, I did enjoy that song while playing MP2. One of the Janitors sings it. :P

You play Max Payne 3?

Great Dennis, glad to hear it. I didn't quite feel appropriate posting my recommendations in this thread, but will probably have a very long list once I've been able to hear my collection through the Philharmonics. Thanks as well for the additional bit of knowledge regarding fill.

It seems apparent we need an automated fill-adjuster, smartphone and IR controllable obviously. Let us know when you've worked that out!

LOL I very much enjoyed Max Payne 3. I felt it lived up to the hype and did the other 2 justice. biggrin.gif

It is a good game, the pacing just gets screwed with too much. Too many cut scenes. But its fun, could have really sucked, but glad it didn't..

I don't disagree with that at all. The pacing does get screwed with too much.

Partita for Solo Violin No. 3 in E Major, BWV 1006: I. Preludio By Aaron Rosand is definitely one of my new favorites. Those notes just seem to float around the room biggrin.gif

Of course Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46: In the Hall of the Mountain King. I have two versions one by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and David Parry and one by Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra & Jansug.Kakhidze

Piano Sonata No. 11 In A Major, K. 331: Rondo: Alla Turca By Finghin Collins and By Walter Klien. The second version is allegretto, so it's a bit faster.

Piano Sonata No. 11 in A Major, K.331: III. Alla Turca - (Allegretto by Walter Klein) (Adagio Sostenuto by Moura Lympany) (Adagio Sostenuto by Finghin Collins)

I've also been listening to BEETHOVEN FOR ALL Symphonies 1-9 By Daniel Barenboim and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.

I had forgotten all about this thread. I've come up with a new demo CD for the Capital Audio Fest. A few of the old tunes, but a lot of new stuff. I'm still thin on popular vocalists, so these suggestions will help fill things out even if I can't find room on the current CD.

I have the playlist somewhere. And I'll be real close to the CAS. Except that I'll be listening to real music at Menlo Park Music Festival.

^^ You can come to Virginia and the Interlochen music festival the first weekend in September smile.gif

Dennis, you may be interested in Wintergreen's summer music festival, typically a month-long affair focused primarily on classical and chamber music (no hippie chicks, sorry). An added benefit, all the wine bars in Charlottesville.
