The quality of the Arx drivers and crossover is higher than those used in the P363....so, unless Jon Lane botched the x-over (not gonna happen), they are going to have more refinement and equal/better performance.

I am biased, but I have over 200 listening hours on the Arx A3 towers in my system. I only have about 6 hours on the Infiniti P362 towers (the 363's predecessor). The A3 sounded a lot more refined with lower listener fatigue to boot. The 362's sounded shrill to me when pushed hard by my Arcam AVR300.

Arcam AVR300, Panny BDT-500, Toshiba SD-9200 CD transport, Vizio XVT 55" LED/LCD (full direct-backlit w/ local dimming), Arx A5 & A3rx-c Mains, Arx A2rx-c center, HSU VTF-15h, BJC ten white w/ ultrasonically welded connectors.

EmpTek seems to get pretty favorable reviews. I really like mine, although I have the more expensive model. Their base models have been received quite well from what I've read. The Impression series EmpTek also come with free 30 day return shipping, if you don't like them. You've got nothing to lose there.

I've never heard the HTD, but they look damn nice for the price, as well.

Of course, I got it modified with the TK-427, which cheeks it up another, maybe, 3 or 4 quads per channel.

Good point.

The E5ti's are a strong offering as well for a smaller room. Also more refined in the midrange than the 362's.

Hi, OP here,

I visited several locations where I could "listen" to different floor standing pairs. After letting my ears guide me and my son pointing out that these will be the last mains his OLD man would be buying, I coughed up the extra bucks and went with the RTi A7s.

I have to admit they sound spectacular to me in my environment. I know it is a 'preference' and very subjective but I am happy with my decision (even if it was $380 over budget). They actually blend in well with my old Optimus stuff (center and sub) and with my Boston surrounds.

Thank you all for your input. There were some great suggestions here. I just raised a very persuasive son. :-)
