Hi guys,

I am almost done finishing my home theatre room. It is a small size room, 15' by 11'. I have a 92" projector screen, and need some speakers for the room.

I seem to have a bit of a discount on some KEF speakers, so I was thinking about the following:

Q900 Towers for LR
Q600 Center
Q800DS for surround

Total price (without tax/shipping) is $2090 Canadian.

My question is whether the Q900/Q600 would be overkill/too large for such a room? Also does that seem to be a decent price?

The receiver I have is an older (2008) Onkyo TX-SR606.

I will be building my own Sub for the system, using a Dayton 15" I think, and I already have a SA1000 amplifier.

Thanks a lot!

Hello,

First - where did you get such a smoking deal?

Second I think the 900 are overkill for that room.

My opinion would be the 300's or 500/700 - I have a room that is 12 by 23 and I am looking at 3 Q300's for the front or possibly 500/700's.

I heard the 300's in a similar sized roopm as yours and they sounded fantastic.

I am not really allowed to post the price and location together (PM me).. I am also in Ottawa, and could order the speakers for you if you like.. I want to order mine today hopefully.

So here are the approx prices for the various speakers I could get, (I'm just stating this so it may make someone say "well just get the 900's then" for the price diff).

Prices are +/- about $25 so that I don't get in trouble lol..

Q900 (single) $600
Q700 (single) $500
Q500 (single) $375

Q200C (single) $300
Q600C (single) $425

Q100 (pair) $325
Q300 (pair) $400

Q800DS (pair) $500

Shipping for the 900 and center/dipoles would be about $150 total as well.

I guess I like to plan for the future, and maybe someday I will get a larger room and would like to not have to buy speakers. I figure these would last a long time. Also there is that "What if" factor. But then again it may look weird with such large towers in a small room... arghh it is tough to decide. I may do the Q600C and the Q700's then....
