I found a set of used Infinity Primus speakers for what seems like a good price. $850 Just saw they lowered their asking price to $750

(2) P362 towers
(2) P252 towers
(2) P152 bookshelf
(1) PC350 center channel
(1) PS312 powered subwoofer.

Would you spring for this over a new setup? Obviously this is much cheaper. Is the price good? Is there anything you would change out?

I was looking at a denon 2112 or 2312 to power these. Good choice?

Thanks
David

I sold everything you listed here except a sub for $500 about a year ago. These speakers are great, and the p362/p363 go on sale at Fry's for ~$300/pair quite often. The rest of the speakers, are cheap and you could probably get a new set for about the same. I would recommend waiting for a sale at Frys before spending $850 on used speakers.

problem is that I don't have a local Fry's otherwise I'd be all over the P363 that are currently on sale. frown.gif

The cheapest I can find the P363 new are $200 each.

I wouldn't mind starting with just 2 fronts and a center for now but I saw this full set so I figured I would ask. Thanks

I think if those speakers are in good shape then that is a very good deal. The Infinity sub isn't the best around but it isn't bad either. I would go for that set with the intention of upgrading the sub later, to something that can really dig deep, like a Hsu, Outlaw, or Rythmik.

The guy says he has no way of powering them since he already sold the receiver and they have been in storage for the last 2 years.

Would the BIC PL200 be an upgrade? Or anything in the $200 range?

I would still want to look them over, and find a way to listen to them - even if you have to
take your own receiver and cables. This is a chance for you to make a lower offer.

I think the differences b/w 362 and 363 are just cosmetic. In fact, if you open up the p363 cabs and look at the crossover, you'll see p360 marked on it. So its safe to assume that the cross overs are the same, and by that extension, the drivers are also the same. If you get a good deal on the older p362, go for it.

I don't think that PL200 would be an upgrade from the Infinity sub. You would have to go to the larger $600 subs from ID brands, like Hsu, Outlaw, and Rythmik before you get a substantial increase in performance.

Bumping an old thread.

Is this a good deal?
Pair of infinity primus P362 and a Pc350 center.

They're on craiglist for $180 "used gently"

Tring to put together my first ht, but I'm on a budget...

That's a good deal. The p362 and c350 are essentially the same as the p363 and c351. The only change is the grey front baffle is now black, a purely cosmetic change. The performance would be the same.
