Hello,
Fry's is running a ridiculous deal on the Primus 363 floor speakers this weekend so I was going to pick up a pair. I started doing some research online to see if these would be good with my set up and came across a review saying that these speakers can dip in to the 4ohm range in the mid bass and that could be hazardous to an entry level AVR rated at 8ohm like my devon AVR-1610.
Huh?
I honestly don't know that much about this stuff, so make fun if you'd like but I'd appreciate some help in understanding if this speaker will pair well with my receiver.
Thanks in advance.

Connect them to you AVR 1610. If you don't plan to play them very loud you'll probably be okay. If you add a subwoofer that will also help out.

At worst if they dont work out for you they can be returned within 30 days to Fry's.

Hi Dirk,

I agree with aFro... that Denon will handle them just fine.
Just dont try to 'max 'em out' . You can only really tell how loud a speaker gets before it sounds like carp, by turning up the volume and finding out, right? As soon as it starts sounding ... um... wrong... don't go louder from there, as it won't get better, and that is where damage is done.

I've never heard them , personally, but they look like great speakers for the $$. Many here have them and think quite highly of them. Go for it, it'll be fine. You will start to wonder what a really good sub could add to that equation... that'll come later... rolleyes.gif

...what a long, strange trip its been.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.
I went ahead and bought them.. $199.00 for the pair... I couldn't NOT buy them.
haven't hooked them up yet, but i plan on taking it easy on them till I get a decent sub to take care of the lows.
