OK just got my BIC DV64's and 62CLRS center. Taking them for a test drive with some Mozart. Get the bright idea in my head to take grills off and take a pic of my cool new speakers. Took grills off. While fumbling with phone camera, my one year old trots right over to the center channel, takes her finger and proceeds to smash the tweeter dome.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

Calmly put baby in crib, close bedroom door then start beating myself in the head screaming: "Why? STUPID STUPID STUPID!! NO WAY that just happened!!!"

Then pulse starts to slow, red blind rage subsiding. I take a look at the tweet...Got screws right on the front.

Hmmm...

Grab my screw driver, detach from the speaker cabinet and look at the back...crap got some kind of mold adhesive holding the magnet to the front housing of the ferrod filled tweeter.

Hmmm...

Take the tweeter over to my shop vac, turn on, lightly place hose directly over tweeter until I make a seal for a split second.

Thoomp...tweeter dome restored, can't even see a wrinkle on it.

Am I good to go or should I return/repair?

OMG dude you don't even know...I'm already major OCD when it comes to me electronics.

Some speaker guru needs to stop by and let me know if I'm cool or if my tweet was permanently damaged. I took a closer look at it with a flash light. No tearing at all around the edge and no wrinkles at all...looks identical to the tweets in the towers.

Hope I'm ok but if not BB has a good policy...or i can just get BIC to send me a tweeter...

Light that baby and celebrate unless the coil behind is damaged, you're good. Heard many stories of fingers and domes. It's more common than one is aware of. Congratulations on the home repair. Children are God's way of teaching us patience.

OH yeah, I had to calm myself long enough to let my poor little one know it wasn't her fault...

OK so then you think I maybe got lucky??

Sweet. I'm so relieved.

Here's a picture of the little whipper-snapper just before "The Incident"...

This is exactly why I'm considering placing my M&K's in storage and replacing them (at least for a while) with speakers which have metal grills (e.g., Martin Logan, etc.). Thus far he doesn't seem very interested in the speakers but that could change quickly...
