Looking for any advice that will help me break the tie between Bowers and Wilkins CM5 vs Polk LSiM703. Listened to both and love both. They cost about the same. Am torn... any advice?

B&W all the way. biggrin.gif

All things being equal, B&W commands a lot more respect and pride of ownership. It helps when your big brothers include the $60,000 Nautilus, $25,000 800D2, and $15,000 802D2. Resale value for B&W is probably among the best.

Of course, get the one that sounds better. But what if they are exactly the same on SQ. Then what would you get?

I'd bet my hat (which I'm really quite fond of) that those speakers will not sound exactly the same. If I'm wrong then you could consider aesthetics, build quality, warranty, applicable deals on price, and resale value. Best bet is to get your hands on both and sit back and enjoy. Forking out the extra dough for return shipping will be worth it if you know you got the best choice.

The OP says he loves them both.

He loves them both equally. Thus he is torn.

So that means he loves both their sound quality equally.

I did not say the speakers sound exactly the same.

2 speakers that sound differently can have equal sound quality since it is pure personal preference.

Whoops! Sorry OP (and AcuDefGuy). I'll admit I didn't give your post(s) my full attention before responding. Didn't see the "listened to both and love both" part. I maintain that warranty and appearance should help you in your decision. I'm not familiar with the warranties on either but the B&Ws would get my vote on aesthetics. Which finish were you looking at on each?

Just wondering, what price were you quoted for them?

I just got back from Soundscape in Baltimore and compared the CM5 and the LSiM703. I thought they both sounded incredible but I gave the nudge to the Polk because of the deeper bass. No sub necessary with the Polks. Also they were 10% off ($1350).

Nice to see Polk update the Lsi line. I owned the lsi 9's and like them quite a bit, and the 703 looks to be a nice speaker.
