will these DT 350 tembei match w/ my Polk SC1 center channel?

I currently have Polk M30s as fronts alone w/ the SC1, don't have rear surrounds yet. was thinking maybe use the DTs w/ the CS1 as fronts and relagate the M30s to surrounds.

Personally, I would never recommend those speakers to anyone, because I find their sound very unpleasant. They are certainly not going to match the center speaker (I assume you mean that it is a CS1).

If I was going to upgrade that system, I would get Monitor 40 or 50 speakers for the front, get the CS20 for my new center speaker, and use the Monitor 30 for the surrounds.

I have owned the Monitor 30 and the Definitive SM350, the Definitive is an all around
better performer >> Better drivers and a much better cabinet, the definition and detail
and tight bass response, is on a higher level >> To get started, you can buy them and
save up for a center channel. Your call.

Yes, I own the Def Tech SM350 and I own the Polk M40s...and there is no comparison! The Def Tech hit low better, hit mid better and hit high better. I have not seen a center channel for those..I have them as part of a 2.0 system.

I believe the DT are for real audio folks expecting very high quaility audio, I am impressed w/ there lower radiater design (same as my sub.)

these DT are not designed as a TV audio sys. I have read about folks using 5 350s as a TV audio sys. do these folks actualley have 6 350s and only use 5?

don't get me wronge the Polk M30s w/ SC1 CC sound good however I really want rear surrounds and am willing to pay up for nicer fronts.
Thanks STB

Well a couple weeks ago you could get the DT 350 or the larger 450 for UNDER 200/pr from New Egg! That is a damn good price...

yes the DT 450 is my preferred front speaker since the 350 woofer is 4.4"

what would be the CC for the 450s?

Once again don't get me wronge on my current fronts the sub. made a huge differnce in there prefornance plus I like the cherry imatation wood on the M30s & SC1

My main objective is having surrounds just undecided to get small satilites and leave the fronts as is.

Definitive C/L/R 2002 >> as in post #7
http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/details/548499960/definitive-technology-c-l-r-2002-black

And, reccomended here >

The ProCenter 2000, has been reccomended for the SM350 > it is hard to over-look the C/L/R 2002 price
compared to the ProCenter 2000

I'm still wanting rear surrounds maybe just use the DT350 for rears (and keep the Polk M30 fronts and CS1 CC for front) can't justify spending $200. for the pair of 350s then spend $350. for the clr2002.

How would this sound polks in front of the better DTs in rear?

edit my Yamaha RX-V465 only has one crossover.

I used the DT450 to replace a set of Polk M40s, and initially, I thought the same thing. Not sure if the DT got better with break in, or I just appreciated the sound more with time...but after about two weeks, I was sold on the DT. (And for about two weeks, I had the speakers on a 2.0, two zone receiver, so I did a ton of A/B comparisons). To my ears, the bass in the DT450 was clearer, and the midrange was way better. High end was perhaps better with the Polk Ms...

I can say that the sound quaility is better and that was the objective,

I defintily don't hear the pronounces Ss & Cs associated w/ the M30s.

I hopping they'll improve w/ time. I'm assumming during the breakin period the volume should be low to medium levels?

I too have the DTs setup as 2.1 if they infact improve I'm concidering getting a second pair of SM350s and use one for a center channel?

here's a image not reat fond of the cheesie grille cover
