Hey guys i need some advice. I wanted to get a 5.1 speaker system for my new apt living room. The space is a little strange with how narrow and long it is...maybe you can give me some ideas. I have a picture below.

Keep in mind that the room is 6'10" wide and 20' Long.

I was really looking to get some decent floor standers for the front but i am looking into some nicer bookshelves if you guys think the sound would be enough.

I'm trying to get the best for my money but i will pay a bit for some good quality stuff that i wont have to upgrade soon.

I look forward to your input!

TV = 60EH6000
Receiver = AVR-2312
5.1 Setup = 2 rb-51 ii, 1 rc-52 ii, 2 rs-42ii, 1 PA-120

6'10" wide? That's not a living room, that's a hallway!

I think you need to put the surround speakers on the far corners. having them next to your head means that is all you are going to year with the mains and center being 10ft away!

if the hard wood from the picture is true I would get a rug or some wall hangings to help absorb some sound... seeing as there is nothing else in the room

Ya i thought about the surround placement and i will be putting them in the far corners...they will be plenty loud!! As for the deal it was pretty much once in a life time. The website i got it from had a promocode that was supposed to work on only one item on the site but there was a glitch. I was able to use it on this speaker system and got it under cost. The guy from the site emailed me and honored it so i was really happy...cheapest setup of this kind i could have hoped to find!!

Ya i cant wait to use the pa-120 i hear awesome things about it. Do you think my placement is going to work nicely?

The room does have carpet so no worries :-)
