Hi!

Anyone ever bought anything from www.accessories4less.com?

I found some speakers I would like to buy from them but I have never heard of them before. I just wanted to know if it is safe to buy from them. They have pretty nice low prices.

Thanks for any advice!!

ok, thanks!

I had a bad experience from buying online before where they never send me my order. I used a credit card to pay them.

Would Paypal be a safer way to make an online payment just in case the online stores don't send you your order?

AC4L is a good company
PayPal is a good way to do business.

What's your legal recourse against PayPal if you want to try to reverse a payment?

You have some statutory protection when paying with your own credit card (which may or may not apply directly to PayPal.) That said, I use PayPal when I must and I generally don't worry about it. I've never had a problem.

I think when using PayPal, they can withdraw from the Seller account if they don't send you your order. You will have to file a claim against the Seller and they will immediately put the amount on hold until the case is close.

Regarding using credit card for online purchase, I don't think credit card companies can do much if a Seller don't send you anything or send you damaged items. Credit card companies will just tell you to contact the Seller which is useless.

Unfortunately, both refurbished Onkyo receivers I purchased from them ended up going back due to HDMI failures. Their sales people got a little...cranky...with me.

Since AC4Less isn't a repair facility, I think the blame for those faulty receivers falls on Onkyo.

They should give you good customer service though.

i've bought 2 onkyo avr's at best buy a few years ago and had to return both for exact same hdmi problems and my dad purchaced an onkyo avr from vanns and had to return it for same problems.so imo its not the place of purchase but the onkyo product itself. i'm sure alot of people love their onkyos but its 3 strikes and your out with me.i purchased a refurbished harman kardon avr354 from their online store and a denon avr 791 from accessories4less and had no porblems at all

i'm so laid back,i'm laid out

You have more protection with your actual credit card than you do with paypal imo.

Does the credit card company only provide $60 - $180 coverage?

So if you spend about $5000 for online purchase and the Seller never ship you the order, your credit card company can only get you back $180. You will have to eat the rest of the money you lost. That was the information I was reading online.

It seems like accessories4less have a lot of Refurbished products to sell. Are Refurbished products always have issues?

I bought a refurbished Marantz amplifier from them last year. If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was new. I could not tell it was refurbished, and it has worked perfectly.

I helped two family members purchase Marantz receivers from them a few years ago. They both were in brand new condition, and no problems with the products since.

Thanks everyone!!

It helps when you buy a refurbished product that is backed by the full manufacturers warranty smile.gif

That is peace of mind and aacessories4less is an authorized reseller of Onkyo, Denon, Marantz, etc.

I would stay clear of companies that offer no warranty or are not authorized resellers.

Most 'refurbished' products never had anything wrong with them to begin with, they were returned to the store because the buyer couldn't figure out how to use it.

I have also been told by a buddy who works for large company in manufacturing (sporting equipment) that if the box is damaged at the assembly line and there is nothing wrong with the product, they have to sell it as refurbished. I can only assume electronics would be the same.

LOL!!

I came into this thread looking for a bad review. I am on a few forums, and all I ever hear is great things about A4L.com, and including from me. I have dealt with them many times and all have been great.

well IF they send you a defective unit, multiple times, and you decide to go elsewhere, you will be on the hook for any initial shipping charges. And don't be in any hurry to see that partial credit back. This is all listed on their site, granted, but I took a chance with them based on all the good reviews I found when researching them as a company. They'll never get another nickle from me.

What a long, strange trip its been....

You must be talking about the shipping charges? and or restocking fee
Quote:
Returns:

Any item may be returned within 30 days of the date of purchase. Items damaged in shipping are returned at no cost to our customers. If you simply change your mind, you will be responsible for return shipping and original shipping charges are not refundable plus you could be charged a 15% restocking fee.

I have to admit, I once ordered one too many amps, and I had to send it back, and of course I was not credited the original shipping and I had to pay to ship it back, but they didn't charge me a restocking fee.

I am wondering what happened with your partial credit?

Tell us, so we and the OP know what to look for.

ordered an Onkyo 876 .. price seemed good. unit was DOA. one blinking light. returned it, on their dime, to Onkyo. took a week for Onkyo to agree, unit was non functional, so AC4 sent another... lasted less than 1 week... sent back to Onkyo... took over 2 weeks this time... was in contact with AC4 during this time... was told they didn't really want to risk sending me another unit ... they had my $ already, and had for over a month at this point, but they 'didn't feel comfortable' sending me what I ordered and paid for... suggested an even more expensive Marantz, that was "coming" on a certain day the next week...

so I waited for that day, this is after hooking up, disassembling, repacking and driving to FedEx twice, not to mention the hours spent troubleshooting, resetting the unit, rerunning Audyssey, etc...

so on the day the 'new' unit was to hit their site, I checked after work (approx 2pm) to find it 'out of stock'. Gave a quick call... "sorry, we're all sold out of those" ... tired of the runaround, I decided to order elsewhere. So it wasn't a matter of my 'changing my mind', or deciding I didn't like it. I called them and told them to just forget it, issue me a refund and I'll be on my way. They agreed, and said I should see a credit on my CC in 2 to 4 weeks. It took every day of 4 weeks. The partial credit was less the original shipping charges (thanks for sending me a brick, sure, I'll be glad to pay for that...), not a 'restocking fee'.

so basically, they tied up my $ for over 2 months. I wish I'd never ordered from them at all. I realize most people have not had any problem with them at all, and I truly wish I'd been one of them also.

fwiw, I'd ordered Onkyo refurbs before (and since), but only from shoponkyo directly, and have never had a problem with anything from there, including the 707 I ended up getting after this ordeal. Enjoying it as I type. smile.gif
