The EVO's are an excellent choice. As a former Diamond 9.6 owner (who sold them to a friend - I still get to hear them), they are a very well constructed, musical speaker As was pointed out above, the EVO's are step above the Diamonds. Also, from your initial post,. they should meet all your requirements - real wood veneers, curved cabinets to control internal resonance, choice of color and at a fantastic price. If I was lookiing for a new pair of mains, these would be on my short list because of my familarity with Wharfedale. Good luck with your speaker journey.
