Hi all!

New here! I used to own a crappy Panasonic HTIB.... old schoolll

Anyways I sold it a years ago when I moved in with my friend. Now I am about to move out into a small duplex and was wondering about purchasing something new smile.gif

After checking out these forums I think I'm going with maybe a Denon 1913 (when its on sale for $350 or so).

Then the Pioneers:
FS51 LR
SP-C21
BS41 LR

And some sort of sub (need help here! Maybe the Energy one you guys speak highly of?)

Right now Newegg has the entire 5.0 set for $270 shipped! Should I just go ahead and pick it up? I dont know where Im going to be living yet but I assume the living room will be roughly 14'x14'.

Do you think this set up is adequate/overkill?

Thanks guys!

I just bought the same setup from them either way for the money you can't go wrong.
I am also looking at Denon but just cannot pull the trigger. debating about a higher in
Model refurbed from authorized dealer.

Yeah. That's a great deal.

Newegg also has a great deal on the Klipsch RW-12D sub for $299. I would think that whole setup for $570 would be impossible to beat.

However, BestBuy has the new, upgraded versions of those Pioneers. For a little more, you get better all around sound quality improvement:

And yeah. Denon receivers are a nice choice.

As good as the 2011 were I dont see the upgrade being that huge of a difference.
I mean I'm sure there is but would a non audiophile even notice. Saying all this because I just bought the 2011 model.

I just heard the bookshelf used as the speakers in a 2-channel system and wow what a deal for the price. Outstanding clarity in the midrange, no excessive brightness, and no pumped-up lower midrange. Very listenable. I recommended the purchase for someone without hearing them (based on the reviews), and they are exceptional.

AT&T U-Verse Northeast Ohio

Denon x4000, Samsung LED TV, B&W 704 mains, two M&K subwoofers, Oppo 103, etc.

Thanks guys! I think I may just pull the trigger on these since this deal seems too good to pass up!

I cant lie... this could be the gateway drug... I'm scared!

Well, I haven't heard the new ones yet, but people (and ordinary people, too, LOL) that have heard both say that they are noticeably better--not enough to upgrade if you already have the older version.

Here's the owners thread. They've been talking about them the last couple of months or so: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1278774/pioneers-speaker-genius-hits-low-price-point

Sounds worth going with the new ones if you are just now buying.

I bought a pair of Jamo towers S426 at Fry's Electronics for $87 dollars to replace my front bookshelf Pioneer Pioneer SP-BS21-LR Bookshelf Loudspeakers, which sounded decent for $49.99 + TAX. However, the Jamo's sound much better and have more base. Fry's had another sale for the Jamo's and this time they were selling for $69.99 for the pair of towers. I was thinking of getting another set of towers, but the wife said "NO."

However, for the price you can't go wrong with the Pioneers specially if you buy them from newegg.com since they have better sale than anyone else. I'm thinking of selling my currently onkyo's speakers that came with my HT-S9100THX, and replacing them with the Pioneers bookshelf speakers.

My current set up, which is very inexpensive and has Wife Approval Factor (WAF)

Receiver HT-R960 (HTIB system bought it on sale 5 years ago for $400 dollars at the only army store regular price $1200)
Front L/R: Jamo S426 (on sale for $87 at Fry's)
Center: Klipsh C1 (got it on sale for $40 dollars new at Fry's)
Surround and back surround left /right: Onkyo SKM960S bookshelf (these speakers came with the HTIB 7.1 system)

So, I am thinking of replacing the Onkyos surround and surround back with the Pioneers. I know they are all mismatched, but they sound good enough to me for the price wink.gif. Once my wife and I get our house, I will buy a more serious system, but for now it will do.

Here is my take on the differences from 2011 to 2012, if it helps clarify.

By the way, I do not have a golden ear!

I would love to get the next gen ones but can you justify the price difference? Its $520 after taxes out the door versus $220 for the previous generation.

Seems like a big price difference!
