I bought a pair of Jamo towers S426 at Fry's Electronics for $87 dollars to replace my front bookshelf Pioneer Pioneer SP-BS21-LR Bookshelf Loudspeakers, which sounded decent for $49.99 + TAX. However, the Jamo's sound much better and have more base. Fry's had another sale for the Jamo's and this time they were selling for $69.99 for the pair of towers. I was thinking of getting another set of towers, but the wife said "NO."
However, for the price you can't go wrong with the Pioneers specially if you buy them from newegg.com since they have better sale than anyone else. I'm thinking of selling my currently onkyo's speakers that came with my HT-S9100THX, and replacing them with the Pioneers bookshelf speakers.
My current set up, which is very inexpensive and has Wife Approval Factor (WAF)
Receiver HT-R960 (HTIB system bought it on sale 5 years ago for $400 dollars at the only army store regular price $1200)
Front L/R: Jamo S426 (on sale for $87 at Fry's)
Center: Klipsh C1 (got it on sale for $40 dollars new at Fry's)
Surround and back surround left /right: Onkyo SKM960S bookshelf (these speakers came with the HTIB 7.1 system)
So, I am thinking of replacing the Onkyos surround and surround back with the Pioneers. I know they are all mismatched, but they sound good enough to me for the price
. Once my wife and I get our house, I will buy a more serious system, but for now it will do.
