Hi All,

This is my First post in this forum.

I am in process of setting a Home theater System.
Recently I bought Yamaha V671 Receiver at Best buy for 240$ and Bose Acoustimass 6 refurbished for 330$.

I have Sony Google TV.

As Yamaha V671 is 7.1 Channel and bose acoustimass 6 is 5.1 channel.
Can you please suggest me 2 nice speakers to make my home system 7.1.

After I purchased I saw Lot of posts which are not in favor of Bose. I can return the Bose speakers If needed.

Please suggest me If you want me to stay with Bose or Please suggest me a Budget speakers.

Thanks and Appreciate your Help.

Welcome to the forum.....

I would definitely recommend you return the bose... But for more advice you need to state a budget. Room size and ratio of movies/music/gaming is also useful for us to suggest speakers and such for you.

In the category of "best sound for the dollar"...Bose ranks very low! I too would recommend returning the Bose and spending the 300+ dollars on:
1. One pair of front speakers (2.0)
2. One pair of front speakers and a budget sub (2.1)
3. Stretch the budget aliitle and get a decent 5.1 (Martin Logan MLT-s 299.00 from New Egg or KEF KHT1005.2SE 279.00 also from New egg)...but only if your room is reasonable small! These systems, like the Bose, will struggle in a large room- however they will both struggle less than the Acustimass.

Set up #1: EMP e5ti, e5Ci, and SLS Q line Audio surrounds, EMP 10i10i sub
Set up #2: Def Tech SM450, CLR2002, SLS Qline surrounds and Klipsch 12wD sub
Set up #3: JBL130, JBL120C and Klipsch synergy sub

At least you only paid $330 for the Bose you didn't didn't get ripped off for the normal $600+.

Once you provide more info we can make some suggestions. Welcome to AVS!

+1

Even though it's just 5.1, this is a great alternative to the 5.1 Bose Acoustimass with 2 more speakers added on. One of the problems with Bose is that they have holes in the frequency response--they don't actually reproduce all of the sound that your receiver sends to them. So even though you got a good price on them, there are alternatives that are just better systems.

So tell us a lot more, such as how much you can budget total and the size of your room. Details help smile.gif

It would be simple for me, the new Pioneer speakers at Best Buy - would be an ear opener.
Move down and read about Pioneer here

I wouldn't buy Bose either for all the reasons stated above BUT, like vision, smells and tastes, sounds are very subjective! After reading through hundreds if not thousands of posts I've come to realize: whatever sounds good to YOU is the most important thing. Buy what sounds good to YOU. I'd personally not buy Bose, but that's just me.

This was my first system I bought and still use it in my second TV area and I personally think it sounds great. http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-5-Channel-Theater-System/dp/B000ZKNW82 and was paired with this sub. http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-12-Inch-Powered-Subwoofer/dp/B000OY6CVI

I know you can get better subs for the price, but mine came as a packaged deal.

Good luck.

Newegg has put these Pioneers on sale quite frequently the last few months (about every other week). People have gotten the full 5.0 for around $220:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882117403
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882117404
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882117405

Quite possible they would go on sale in the next week. Subscribe to their mailing list to get promo codes.

Then the Energy S10.3 or BIC F12 for a sub.

I recommend the Denon 1612 at accessories4less. It has the higher version of Audyssey, MultiEQ, which will EQ the speakers and the sub. While it will set the channel level and delay for the sub, Audyssey 2EQ only EQs the speakers. Here's a review of that receiver: http://www.hometheater.com/content/denon-avr-1612-av-receiver

Audyssey type comparison chart here

Not sure of the usefulness of 2EQ for home theatre. The prior recommendation looks pretty solid to me.

Do you think Denon 1612 is better than Yamaha V671.

As of now i am thinking to keep my Yamaha V671. and would like to replace only Bose. And looking for appropriate speakers.

No reason to give up the Yamaha unless you want to, the Yamaha can drive your speakers.
The only reason to change it, is if you want Audyessy >> I have no real preference with the
different speaker set-up options. The choice is yours.

Not a good sub - I would leave that one alone.

Agreed. If you are determined to buy another receiver, then I recommend that Denon. But it might be only a slight upgrade if any. Put your money into speakers.

Depends what features you need.

The Yamaha has several advantages.
1. 7.1 vs 5.1
2. Networking and music streaming via built in ethernet port
3. 6 hdmi inputs vs 4
4. two component video inputs vs none
5. Analog to HDMI video conversion vs no upconverting
6. Powered Zone 2 outputs vs only line level for Denon
7. 2 each optical and digital coax inputs vs 1 each for Denon 1612

Denon 1612 has this advantage
Audyssey MultEQ vs YPAO

I'm not so sure I'd swap the Yamaha 671 for a Denon 1612.

Hi All,

I returned my Bose.
Recently I bought Klipsch RB-41 II Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) for around 160$.
Now I would like to buy Pair of Floor Stands Speakers. What do you think about
Polk Audio Monitor50 Series II Floorstanding, They are on sale on NewEgg for 160$ pair.

How is the combination of Klipsch and Polk.

Do you have any other suggestions for me. Is it worth waiting till thanks giving for any deals?

Thanks

RB-41 will be fine as surrounds, a little too small for main speakers.

It would be nice if you could stick with Klipsch since you already have 2 of them but it isn't necessary. The Polk Monitor 50 towers are a good price but also get a CS1 or CS2 center to go with them.

CS2 center is on sale for $80 using promo code EMCJNJD229
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290023

3 speakers for $240 shipped is a pretty darn good deal.
