I'm looking to setup a cheap 2.0 or 3.0 system. I already have a 6 year old Onkyo receiver (from a 7.1 htib) that I will be using but no longer have the speakers. I'm living in a small apartment so I don't need anything too big and I'm not looking to buy a sub right now. I'd be using this mostly for tv/movies and a little for music. I have a very tight budget and would like to spend $200, if possible.
I like the idea of standing speakers. Would something like these work well for my setup? Will these be ok for movies or do I really need a center channel for dialogue?
If you can wait, those Pioneers go on sale for about half that frequently. If you can't wait, the Polk is a better deal right now. This Polk is also on sale and very similar to the one you linked http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290205. Depending on your situation and where you can place them, there are some bookshelf Pioneers that also go on sale frequently from the same line.
Definitely. If you can wait, seems like the Pioneers have been on sale at Newegg at least couple of times a month for months now. That would enable you to maybe get the matching center channel as well.

yep, the entire Pioneer line is on sale again at newegg for about half price as of this morning (including the center). If you are not a member sign up to get the promo codes. This changes my recommendation back to the Pioneers if you can order in the next couple of days while the sale is still on.
