Hello,

I'm looking for new bookshelf front speakers for Onkyo 609. I've listened to many speakers and made my choice - Excite X16. A friend of mine advised Kef R300, but I don't have time to listen to them. My room is about 35m2. I watch movies and listen to all kinds of music. Which of the speakers do you think are better? Are there other speakers I should consider, they must be not higher than 450cm?

Dynaudio makes great speakers! Both the R300 and X16 are rear ported so they need open space behind them so don't try to put either on a bookshelf or closed cabinet. I have not heard the R300s but based on reviews they would be my choice if they will work for your space. They are a 3 way speaker and not small but they are less than 45 cm tall (38.5?).

Main Kef: Reference 205/2 & 202/2c, Surrounds: Kef XQ40, Velodyne Optimum 12, Integra DHC 80.3, Ayre K-5xeMP, Oppo BDP-103, Bryston 4Bsst2, Parasound Halo A31. Second B&W: 685 (3), CCM618, Def Tech Powerfield 1500, Onkyo TX-NR1008, Zone 2 Klipsch AW650.

It sounds like you have made a choice but are now second guessing yourself. Therefore you have not made a choice.

I think you were right the first time. Get the Dyns and don't look back. Fantastic speakers! Enjoy them.

congrats on getting the speakers and glad to hear you are enjoying them. I havent heard the new kefs, but heard the previous XQs and iQs, both good speakers Im sure.

I used to have the X16s, and while the receiver you have will power them well, if you can at some point get a receiver with pre-outs and an external amp they will really come alive in the bass department. like all dynaudios they will soak up the power.

Dynaudio Focus 260s, Focus 210C, DM 2/6, Hsu VTF3 MK5 HP, Oppo BDP-103, NaimUniti 2, Naim Stageline N, Pro-ject 2xperience Classic, Marantz SR7007, 60" 4K Samsung LED LCD
