As topic says, what are the current best "ON WALL" speakers available?

Need to set up new system around 65 panny.
They need to be wall mounted.

Was looking at the following:

front speakers - 3 Paradigm Millenia LP's
Rear speakers - 2 Paradigm Millenia LP's
Sub - Paradigm 12" powered sub

This all hooked to an ARCAM AVR400

What else should I consider for speakers? Im not totally sold on the millenias yet, though Ive yet to hear them.

I have not heard any of these personally, but brands I see recommended are Totem Tribe, Wisdom Audio, and RBH

I would look into Triad:
http://www.triadspeakers.com/products/owblcr.html

They offer custom paint to match your room as well if you want them to disappear and can make custom speakers if you need a certain dimension or configuration.

James is another well reviewed loudspeaker company:
http://www.jamesloudspeaker.com/index.cfm?page=by_series&id=31&sr=1

As far as subwoofers, I would look at companies such as SVS, Hsu, Funk Audio, etc. You will get a much better subwoofer for the money.

Budget is no concern, I did look at the tribes but they seem huge compared to the alternatives mentioned. Size and the "WIFE" factor are a concern biggrin.gif

So far taking a look at the selection of true SLIM speakers, here are my thoughts:

1. Paradigm millenia LP's - they have a limited range 120Hz to 17kHz, now they do have something called low frequency extension 78Hz but do not think that means they go down that low. As well, max power input at 70 watts, - not too keen on the fact they are wider than they needed to be.

2. KEF's T305 system - they have a much better range of 80Hz - 30kHz. Maximum output of 110dB. Their overall dimensions are better than paradigm.

3. Monitor Audio's shadow series - To me these are the most visually attractive out of the bunch, using a black anodized aluminum, they dont have that black glossy appearance. Their 60 series weighs in at 8 lbs, where the others from paradigm and kef were in the 3 - 4 pound range. I believe this is because the shadow series uses a solid all aluminum chassis, where the others are plastic. Specs are great - Range is 70Hz – 30kHz. Maximum SPD 108.6 dBA, Max power handling 120 watts

So looking at all this, I would choose the Monitor Audio shadow series, thing is, I cannot find a damn single review. I have no experience with Monitor Audio's products. Would appreciate peoples comments regarding monitor audio etc. smile.gif What would you do? smile.gif Again, budget is not a concern. Size and decent performance is! smile.gif

So talking with Monitor Audio support... Think Im going to go with them.
They seem to be built solid, with the best look, being anodized aluminum matte black.

This is what Ill get:

2 x shadow 60's for L/R
1 x shadow center

2x shadow 50's for rears

1x RXw12 sub

All powered by an Arcam AVR600

I have also decided on the Monitor Shadow speakers. For now I'm going with the S60 fronts and center. When the budget allows I will try to get the S25s to replace my Boston Acoustic surronds.

Hi,

Congrats on your selection! The Shadow series do look very cool & MA are a very well respected company! Over here in the UK, a quite a few have opted to go for another subwoofer as the MA Sub is quite expensive compared to other options - especially as you are the in US - Jim Wilson has extensive & up to date knowledge on Subs - might be an idea to get his thoughts - there are companies like SVS, HSU etc..

None of the local brick and mortars have them available to demo. This is usually against my normal method of try before buy. In this case I'm going to have to rely on the experience of my local installer. I currently have B&W CM4s and a CMC. My other choice was to get some B&W FPM 6s. The speakers should be here in less than 2 weeks and they said they would do the install as soon as they came in.

Also having them mount the 65" Panasonic plasma at the same time. I figure with a bad back, to let them have a go at it and keep the wife happy with a neater looking install. These guy were working on a custom rack set up with 3 five foot tall comm racks and and add on of 3 more three foot comm racks full of Integra amps, and oher equipment for a new build. The house supposedly has 25K sq feet under one roof. I figure if they could handle that, they could handle my puny little upgrade.

I talked to monitor audio canada and they found me a couple stores demo'ing the shadows on the floor. Saw / heard them yesterday and they were FANTASTIC, both looks and sound wise. Going to place my order tommorow. They had them mounted around a 65" panny VT50, same setup as mine so was more than pleased with the overall look smile.gif

Post pics when you get yours installed pls smile.gif

I am considering going with the GXw15 over the RXw12 sub. I really like that the GX has auto EQ where as I dont think the RX does. Just nervous that the 15" sub on the GX may not be "punchy" enough / ie slower than the 12" in the RX. Thoughts?

OR if the GXw15 is not going to fit the bill, what about GSw12, the older ver of the gold subby

My Plasma is a VT50 also. Looks like we have good taste:). My speakers are being shipped in from Canada. Not sure what the process is to get them through customs down to Phoenix. Been waiting one week with two more to go.
