Hi everyone. So I have a question. I am in the market for a home theater system. Want to buy fronts, center, satellites and a sub. I have an onkyo tx nr 515 receiver. My room is 24 x 20. We will use it mostly for tv and movies but will also play some music.

I spoke to an advisor with crutchfileld and he commended the following set up:
Polk tsi 100 for the fronts
Polk tsi cs20 for the center
Polk tl2 for the satellites
Polk dsw pro 550wi for the sub

The total price is approx $1,100

My questions, does this set up fit my needs? Is there a better set up for a similar price?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Ive heard a lot of good things about the HSU packages... There are two sets of speakers the HB-1 and the ventriloquist. Take a look at the HB-1 packages (hybrid 1, 2 etc) the only difference is the sub that comes bundled.

The Polk TSi series is essentially just a cosmetic upgrade to the Polk Monitor series. Newegg.com sells the Polk Monitors on special off an on all month long. You'll get a much better deal through them if you subscribe to their mailing lists and pick up Polk Monitor speakers as they go on sale. You'll be able to get a much better 5.0 set that way.

Unless you absolutely have to have the wireless, there are better performing subs for the money from Internet Direct Vendors like HSU and Outlaw Audio.

The HSU hybrid speaker packages that come with an HSU sub are nice too.

Great thanks. So is HSU only sold on their site? If I went that route and purchased the 3.1 package, what satellites should I pair with them?

I don't need a wireless sub at all. What would you recommend as an alterative? If I go Polk monitors, is there an advantage to staying with a Polk sub??

HSU is an Internet direct retailer. You can only buy from them. Their HB-1 speakers also work well as satellites.

And there's no reason to stick with the same manufacturer for the sub as the rest of the speakers.

Thanks. Do you have a subwoofer recommendation for my size room?

With your budget, either the HSU VTF-2 MK4 or the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus. They are 12" ported subs that have pretty good output, and you won't find a better deal on sub in that class.
