Bear with the long post as I've been scanning the Forums for several weeks now trying to come up with a plan for my entertainment system and wanted to get you all the pertinent info before asking your advice. My current equipment:
Receiver: Harman/Kardon AVS 230
Sub: 10" Athena AS-P400
I'm currently in an apartment with a living room stretching 23' long and 12' wide. The 23' wall has the Entertainment Unit centered on it. There's a kitchen that is open to one of the 12' walls.
WAF says my center channel needs to fit in the cabinet, so maximum dimensions will be a tight 4.73" h x 20" w. WAF also says there's slim to no chance I'll be able to set up rear satellites because running wires along a floor board is apparently unpleasing to the eye (her words). Final stipulation is to try and keep my current purchase under $300.
My original thought was to purchase L/C/R with plans to move those to rears in a year when we buy our own place ( where I can run wires) and build out my system with some floorstanding fronts and a larger center. I started looking around and was initially drawn the the Polk Blackstone TL2's. The Center Channel fits the space and I've seen some good reviews.
However, after reading the threads and learning more about other speaker lines I've run across 3 sets that look like a steal of a deal and would both provide me with what I need (including a center that will fit) and give me the option to win the wife over and set up satellites:
Definitive Technology Pro Cinema 60.6, $235:
Polk Audio RM95, $239
Martin Logan MLT-1, $280
OR do I break the bank and scoop up one of these deals:
Polk Audio TL2's, $362:
MartinLogan MLT-2, $380:
THANK YOU for your help!!
